melee token + demo token + scrap.

I crafted the loch and load, brass beast and caber yesterday using tokens.

Fingerman, isn't there some element of luck in those craftings? Or are they the sure-thing?

Token crafting gets harder to predict as more items in a slot are added. So, trying to get the spy knife is a sure thing, while getting say the Eyelander out of the 5 craftable demo melees is problematic. The only sure way to get any update weapon is to either craft it through the blueprint system if it has one, or get the milestone for it, but only certain weapons have those. Or you could just buy 'em.

The crafting blueprint is on the Valve TF2 wiki, so I think you get it every time if you put that together.

You do. If there is a specific bluprint for a weapon, item, etc., you get just that.
