Highlander mode can be fun but you are then limiting your server to 18 players. Although this doesn't seem like a problem you must take into consideration that whenever a map changes a small percentage of players leave (perhaps they don't like map changes or perhaps they realize they've been playing for way too long and have a life outside the computer). When you take that percentage and factor in how many players it requires for people to normally want to join a server, you must now consider that highlander is most fun when 9v9. So most people seeing a server that's highlander mode that has 12-14 players they may not join as readily. Whereas some other gametypes are much more receptive to having less players.

Agree with Jameless. I think we should try Arena myself.

We could go Arena, no crit/spread. There is always a contingent that wants no crit/spread and I think arena is a great place to do that.

Have we thought of a duel option server? Say Mon, Weds, Fri, Sun it's arena, then the other days its custom maps. I don't know how much of a pain that would be to manage, maybe Mon-Thurs customs then arena on the weekends (or vice versa) so it wouldn't have to switch over as often. If one version gets no love, then make it a single purpose server again. Just a thought.

I'd rather stick to a theme instead of changing the server outright every day. Say arena + hunted mod + the fixed randomizer. have people be able to vote for what they want to play out of those 3. (They all run on arena maps.)

I don't really mind goomba, but if we're going to go with an arena no crit/spread theme, goomba doesn't really fit with that theme.

No, Goomba does NOT fit in with Arena. Think about it for a moment.
