Auto-mute enabled on Slaybox 2

by Failhorse » Wed Feb 23, 2011 1:09 am

We've had serveral days of sonic interference on slaybox 2. On SB1 we use a mod that auto-mutes micspammers after X seconds. This has been installed and enabled on SB2.

Essentially those who use 3rd party programs to spam their bad taste in music will be muted after 7 seconds. It does not effect those who use normal chat. It does not effect those who have voice_enable 1 turned on. Only those who use HLDJ or HLSS. And only those who have something recorded over 7 seconds. Short clips are A-OK. Anyone muted can be unmuted by an admin. The mute only lasts until map change.

This should solve almost all problems due to mic-spammers. And no need for an admin to jump around ruining his slaybox fun. :P

It wasn't just yesterday. But it did interrupt the "pipes on the point" Egypt fun I was having in SB1.

Uh, I have a question:
A while back, someone decided to break out and sing a few songs in chat and some of us joined in. Will auto-mute kick in if this occurs?

No. It only detects players using 3rd party programs to play sounds. Donors are immune now.

So I have to manually mute myself if I play something really long and annoying. How troublesome.
