I find ash trees to be pretty boring. If you ask me, oaks, willows, and maples are the cool natives in my area.

Oaks remind me of the giant "anvils" in thunderheads. While that comparison would make them sound worrying and ominous, they are venerably considered in my state. We became the only colony to successfully retain our charter when England forced every state to turn it in by hiding it in a giant white oak near the capital.

I like to think that weeping willows look like a person shrugging their shoulders, arms stretched out with the palms up and spaghetti hanging interdigitally, wondering "What am I supposed to do with all of this spaghetti?"
