The CSn Top 10 thread

Talk about random stuff that has nothing to do with TF2 or other games.

The CSn Top 10 thread

by cloud » Tue Mar 19, 2013 2:12 pm

Quite possibly not what you were thinking, but I had an idea on how we can get to know each other just a little bit better. I propose we post some of our top ten favorite (or least favorite) random things. This can range from tv shows and movies, to tf2 items and video games in general. All I ask is that you give a one or two sentence description of why your number one pick was in fact number one, and also where this pick is located, ie what game or movie, or tv show. Other than that, go nuts and have fun!

Allow me to get us started.

My top 10 favorite villains of all time.

10. The prophet of Truth - Halo 3
9.Every kid that wants to adopt Bloo - Foster's home for imaginary friends
8. Queen Myrrah - The Gears of War series
7. Dr. Breen - The Half Life series
6. My laptop - my desk (it can't run anything >.<)
5. The Agents, specifically Agent Smith - The Matrix series
4. The Alatreon - Monster Hunter 3 (Tri)
3.Obadiah Stane - Iron Man
2. Nitro - Crash Team Racing (Playstation 1)
1. Professor James Moriarty - Sherlock Holmes, Game of Shadows

Professor Moriarty shows all of the traits of being a fantastic supervillain. He is able to cause mayhem without being detect, able to keep his identity discreet and secret, he is a complete genius, and he even confuses Sherlock Holmes into making a drastic mistake which results in the deaths of many important buisiness men and leaders. He out thinks Sherlock every step of the way, up to the point of Sherlock stealing his notebook that holds records of his entire empire, and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty in a fight. Even though he is eventually killed by Sherlock, he is still an extremely memorable character, and also my absolute favorite.

I suppose I'll make the second post.

9. PsiSyndicate - http://www.youtube.com/user/PsiSyndicate?feature=g-high-u
8. Shibby2142 - http://www.youtube.com/user/Shibby2142?feature=watch
7. NextGenTactics and other NGT Channels - http://www.youtube.com/user/NextGenTactics
6. Screenjunkies - http://www.youtube.com/user/screenjunkies?feature=g-user-lik

2. nigahiga - http://www.youtube.com/user/nigahiga
1. Shwiggan - http://www.youtube.com/user/Shwiggan

My pick for #1 is Shwiggan due to the fact that I just loved what he did. He was amazing. He made fabulous Gmod videos. Almost perfectly made, as well as good usage of audio from things like Flight of the Concords, random clips of people, and popular youtubers. However, he has since retired from making Gmod videos due to the fact he and Gzero were tired of the TF2 community.

Honorable Mention: Gonzossm

Here is the second top 10 list. Lets keep this train rolling!

My top 10 biggest disappointments.

10) Lost Planet 3's release date being pushed back.
9) The Amazing Spiderman (do I need to say why?)
8) Ghost Rider 2.
7) The last 2 books of the Eragon series.
6) Scribblenauts Unlimited.
5) The 3rd Matrix movie.
4) Superman 3.
3) The whole nonsense last year with Iggguu.
2) James Bond : Quantum of Solace
1) The Twilight series.

You may be thinking, "Oh not another one of these people," but please, just hear me out. Ever since I was a child, I've loved stories about vampires and werewolves, not necessarily stories that involved both, but some were alright. Some of my favorites were Dracula and The Werewolf. But when these books came out, it blew everything I ever respected vampires and werewolves for away. Almost nothing about either monster is correct, and to show it here's a chart.

Vampires: Survive only on human blood, burst into flames in sunlight and turn to ash, garlic chases them away, and they can only be killed by a wooden stake through the heart, decapitation, and direct contact with a crucifix.
Twilight Vampires: Drink animal blood (except for the evil ones), Turn shiny like gemstones in sunlight, and can be killed by anything that can kill a normal human.

Almost nothing is the same. Now onto werewolves.

Werewolves: Only Transform on the full moon, lose all sense of who they are when changed, overcome by an uncontrollable bloodlust when changed, shaped like a large furry man, can only be killed by silver items (swords, bullets, etc.), and can only become a werewolf if bitten by an existing werewolf
Twilight Werewolves: Can change whenever they so choose, Have complete control over themselves when changed, no bloodlust whatsoever, they change into a large wolf, can be killed by anything, and the werewolf trait is transferred through bloodline.

In short, twilight took to interesting monsters, and changed them into bastardized versions of themselves, just so Bella whatshername could have a makeout session with Edward whatshisname. I do not approve.
I do not approve. At. All.

And those are my top 10 biggest disappointments.

My Top 10 Favorite Books:
10. Lord of the Flies - William Golding
9. Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury
8. The Thief/The Queen of Attolia- Megan Whalen Turner
7. Dracula - Bram Stoker
6. Stranger in a Strange Land - Robert A. Heinlein
5. Zane's Trace - Allan Wolf
4. The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien
3. Animal Farm - George Orwell
2. Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West - Gregory Maguire
1. Brave New World - Aldous Huxley

These are all amazing books, but Brave New World is by far my favorite. It's extremely interesting and attention getting. It makes you think while you are reading it, and it is sort of a "what if", futuristic type book. It's a book I highly recommend. ;)
Actually, I recommend all these books :D

Hey joel, if you liked brave new world I'd reccommend reading 1984. Its kinda short, but its a lot like BNW, as sort of a futuristic "what if" sort of thing.

Yep! Thanks for the suggestion, I've actually been reading 1984 (when I'm not reading philosphy :/), haven't got through much though. After that I'm going on to Slaughterhouse Five.

real top 10 albums of all time

10 Bridge Over Troubled Water-Simon and Garfunkel
9 Dark Side of the Moon-Pink Floyd
8 Fragile-Yes
7 Waiting for the Sun-The Doors
6 What's Going On-Marvin Gaye
5 Crosby Stills and Nash-Crosby Stills and Nash
4 American Beauty-The Grateful Dead
3 Exile on Main Street-The Rolling Stones
2 Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band-The Beatles
1 Who's Next -The Who

This is a pretty rough idea of what I think the best albums of all time are. I didn't repeat artists on purpose, and I would say "Waiting for the Sun" is interchangable with "The Doors". Also, Crosby Stills and Nash (CSN coincidentally) is interchangeable with "Deja Vu" in terms of quality.

Who's Next is just pretty much an incredible album with some of the greatest songs of all time
