I really don't get this

http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/31/politics/gay-republicans/index.html?hpt=hp_c2

Now I remember way back when, there were a few guys who were "log cabin republicans". They were gay Republicans. This was before Karl Rove figured out that he could win elections based on the ignorance, fear and bigotry that was out there. This was before the Republican party made gay people the scape goat for the moral decline of the nation, at least not in public.

But now? After the Republican party just passed a platform that makes them second class citizens? How do you support a party that literally thinks you are an abomination unto God and shouldn't have the same rights as everyone else? It just doesn't make sense to me. It would be like me voting Republican after they said that all people with brown eyes are sinners and should be allowed to get married or even have equal rights.

It boggles the mind.

I can understand that they are conservative, but the Republicians are just spewing more religious rhetoric and general cry babyness. I don't see how they can call themselves Republician... the party supports them being in concentration camps, and wants to turn "Amerika" into Iran #2 for goddess sake.

Also remember: A Conservative isn't always Republican and a Liberal isn't always Democrat, and vice versa.

Republicans= Fascists, Bigots, Religious Nuts
Democrats= Communists, Socialists, Atheists

Thats all I ever hear from both sides.

Maybe I should vote for the green party.

Mickey Mouse for President.

Look, here's the thing: Most Republicans are not the shitty redneck douche bags we all see on TV. Just like most Democrats are not the tree hugging hippy pricks we see. Personally, I know very few Republicans that are actually against gay marriage (although I will admit, that might be because I'm in New York).

Also, asside from the gay marriage issue, Log Cabin Republicans clearly agree with the party on the majority of issues. Why support the side that you almost completely disagree with, instead of one issue, instead of the side that you almost completely agree with? They're choosing to stick with the issues that they agree with as Republicans and attempt to change the party's views on the one issue that keeps them appart, something that they seem to be more and more successful in. Anyway, if you really think Republicans are all homophobes, wouldn't you want guys like this to keep at it and change that?

Well, down here in good ol' boy Texas... they are pretty much very antigay and very uberchristain.

Now I am not speaking for everyone that is Republican here in Texas... but they very vocal and seemingly large majority.
Just go down in to the deep south states, rural areas (any place but a big city) and just show even a hint of gayness, then report back! The republicans are feeding the fire for this and it is very scary, and you have churches telling people how to vote and spewing the most aweful filth. I stopped going to church with my grandma just for this reason. (I am not even christain, but I love to visit with my grandma.. and have been rasied in a loving christain home and church. Even my grandma is embrassed of it.)

Honesty I don't stick to a party, I vote for the person I feel is the best of the 2, after looking up unbaised info on thier views and what they wanna do in office. I voted for Bush... god help me... but I did... who would want a flip flopper like Kerry in office? That man was saying just about anything to get in office... and had a bad record of never showing up for congressal voting was a big one... that and we were fighting a major war at the time. (I could go on and on; Kerry was a very bad choice imo) I voted for Obama... after a tuff choice between him an McCain... even after he let that flap jaw of a woman as his vice pres... I still was with him though be cause of what he wanted to do, his exp... ect... what hurt Obama in my book was his total lack of exp... but I ended up voting for Obama because he (at the time) seem to be the better.

Anywho... don't be labeling me as someone who votes or rolls for (or againist) a party for no good reason.
I do a lot of thinking, weighing, and research when I vote, even for local polls.

Well thats my rant for the morning, off for some coffee.

Honestly, it's the people in the deep south that are the ones making the news. Just like it's the college students in the big cities who just really really agree with their professors that make the news. As such, they are the ones that have influenced the parties the most. I'm with you, I don't subscribe to one pary or another. To be frank I think both parties suck, and if you were to round up all of my views you'd probably see half telling me I should be on one side and half that I should be on the other.

I really can't imagine what you've seen and what you've been through, and I can't pretend that I ever will. I just don't see the two parties as these caricatures that they're being portrayed as. Half of the media wants Republicans to be biggots while the other half wants Democrats to be pussies. Is there a basis to these stereotypes? Sure, there always is some, but the only reason they're so prevelant is because the deep south homophobes and the college hippys are the ones getting all of the news converage.

As a member of the New York hipster liberal elite (DOES LIVING NEXT TO WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK MAKE ME THAT), I am offended.
I mean, like, Republicans...bs and shit. I'm a bit out of it right now, but I'd rather vote for somebody whose vice president isn't Paul "MOTHERFUCKER" Ryan.

Its this sort of attitude that worries me about United States citizens today.
Just so mean for some reason.

I mean, I am joking. And I think I'm running off about 5 hours of sleep. And I've been infront of a computer all day. Wait I'm not sure what my point is. Wait I'm not sure of what I intended by using 'MOTHERFUCKER'.
I generally agree withi the Democratic party platform, but it just so happens to be that (why am I doing this instead of an essay) fuck I lost all motivation.
I just don't agree with the general patterns of the Republicans driving the country even more tot he right, and basically going out and denying so many facts and instead spouting absolute BS about stuff like "legitimate rape" and other statements that are just totally insane. I'm not going to bother defending the Democratic party at the moment, since they're also human and also therefore flawed to hell and back, but the Republicans have basically created a culture where there's no such thing as compromise, which basically annihilates the very reason to even have politics. The government is made for the people, and it's there to make sure shit works. If shit doesn't work (i.e. cutting the fuck out of infrastructure and education spending, etc), then there's no real reason for the government to exist. Though I guess I do agree with Ryan's idea that there has to be something done about Medicare, there should really be a deeper institutional reform than what is simply a complete smashing of the current system. If anything, there should like be some sort of easing to make the eventual major cuts less painful. Least that's how it's working out in my head.
Also I don't think I like old people all that much. Does that make me a terrible person? I don't deny that I am. Pretty sure I'm a terrible person.
this doesn't really make sense and is disjointed.
think that Americans should really think more with their minds rather than instinctive emotional reactions, even though one can't deny the fact that humans instinctively react on the emotional level, rather than the logical and rational level.
Fuck I don't even know if I believe any of the stuff I wrote here, a lot of it is just logic ramblings, probably subconsciously derived from my own belief system regarding the way that the government should run.
Also there needs to be less wasteful spending, although if we get into what exactly is the fuck regarding wasteful spending that'll just develop into a whole 'nother shitstorm.

Democracy is the worst form of government except for all those others that have been tried.

Or at any other place?
Somehow it's become bastardized into some term thrown around the internet. Hate it so much.

Swag has actually been bastardized at my high school, where I can't even say it now without telling people the actual definition after I say it, lest I get booed, because last year people abused it's other definition to hell and back (along with other annoying terms like #YOLO).

Hahaha someone has completely bombed the internet with a rumor that "swag" is a term decades old that means "Secretly, we are gay" and it totally took off. Fucking hilarious

Everyone who uses it nonironically is probably just truncating the word swagger
