Pizza, a vegetable? WTF

by duck » Fri Nov 18, 2011 4:40 pm

we all know pizza as our nice, cheesy, doughy food that makes us feel good on the inside.
now that it is a vegetable i will now get mad.

ingredients:
flour
vegetable oil (this is a fat)
sugar
salt
some kind of leaving agent (baking powder or yeast)
tomato sauce (fruit)
cheese
and some spices.

how is this a vegetable?

Why does this remind me of the scene from Wall-E where they say they're going to go grow pizza?

Congress has a 9% approval rating.

I'll just leave it at that.

Fucking hell.. if this is the case at least don't make it the size of the tray. Give it a SMALL portion and then give them real veggies.... this is ...idiots everywhere.

They say it saves money. Who wants to be we see a dime of the savings? I say 5$ that it goes up.

They are obviously trying to make America more healthy.
Americans don't eat vegetables.

This can go either way though. Now you can go on a Vegetable filled diet, then consume all the pizza you want.

It's the (usually) 2 ounces of tomato sauce on the pizza that declares it a vegetable, according to congress. What's funny about this, is that a tomato is either a fruit or a berry, depending on how you look at it.

Anyway, the main reason this was passed was because places like Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Papa Johns, and other places are able to sell their pizza to schools, because it's healthy. School's aren't able to sell this pizza to students (from my understanding) unless it's healthy enough, and since it has the 2 ounces of tomato sauce on it, it counts as 1 serving of your vegetables for the day, thus allowing the schools to sell the pizza.

This reminds me of Bill Cosby's bit about feeding chocolate cake to his kids:

This is why I never ate from the school cafeteria once while I was there. First, I hated waiting in the lunch line, that cut into my goofing off time after I finished my lunch. And second, the food was fucking nasty.

Jamie Oliver has done a few experiments on improving food, and he's pretty much proven that you can serve fresh, healthy food for the same cost as frozen crap. Now we just have to convince Congress to ignore the food industries millions (if not billions) of dollars in lobying money.

Pizza can be healthy.

Pizza is not a vegetable.

Poor, poor Congress.
