Steam Forums Hacked?

Well... the Steam forums have been hacked since Sunday November 6th. Somehow, people accessed Steam's database and hurt credit card #, forum accounts, etc.
Be on the lookout if your account makes any purchases.
^^^ from Steam when going to their forums

Anyways, I'm thinking to myself, why doesn't steam have better protection in their system?

Thoughts?
