What is the game minecraft? I've heard of it before and it seems really popular, so what is it? I know it's a game, but what do you do? Do you build stuff? What do you build?

I'm not sure if this is a spam or not, but it's an open world game where you can 'dig' everything in it. You mine resources and can build with the resources you find. At night, monsters come out and you have to fortify yourself against them. That's the simplest explanation there is. The video on Mojang's website is a pretty good summation.

There is also a game mode called "Creative" where you get unlimited resources and noclip ability to build any kind of stuff you like.

Two last things are 'Adventure maps' which are maps built by other players who then share it online to download. They typically have a story created and you play along on the creators map. Lastly, Minecraft's 'mod' community is huge, and there are thousands of fun modifications to the game to try out.
