Who thinks that this would be a good idea once the 1.6 mods have been released and are stable: I say we install a few plugins and try to upgrade the play experience of people on the server. A few that come to mind are:
- Factions. (This lets people make their own faction and claim territory in the world)
- CreeperHeal. (This reverts all damage done by explosions after a preset time)
- Cannons! (This allows players to construct a cannon, load it with certain kinds of projectiles, aim it, and fire. Some projectiles I've seen have something like a shotgun type of effect all the way to burrowing out large tunnels. Projectiles are customizable.)
- mcMMO. (This creates skills within the game that do different things. For example: Mining. As you use a pick to mine appropriate materials you level up mining. A higher skill in mining increases a chance for the mined object to drop double and give you a skill that allows one hit to break the appropriate blocks for a short time. Which skills are active from the plugin and how fast they level up are customizable.)
- iConomy and Chestshop. (These plugins create an ingame currency and the ability for players to create shops to buy and sell items.)
- *WorldGuard. (With Ninja mentioning spawn protection, this came to mind. It would let the server OPs create areas that nobody could alter; e.g., a spawn town with basic rails out to the general wilderness and a shop with basic amenities.)
I'm not sure if anyone would be game for this but ideally by allowing PvP on the server (With CreeperHeal preventing loss of construction) the server would have some ongoing point to it. PvP would exist but the only loss someone would incur, assuming you were in a faction, would be items on their person. With time, if interest remains, we could potentially add objectives (Quarries, merchants with valuable items, etc.) and events to the server.
