It is more about Loot while minecraft is more about building.

That and 2D vs 3D

Anyone know if it's any good? Was thinking about buying the Terraria 4-pack and giving some away.

My best friend told me it was a good game apart from the fact that he can't play online for some reason. If you like side-scrolling platformers, exploration and exploding stuff, it's a great game. :3

I may get the game. It does look really cool. I remember reading about it on IGN, and it caught my attention some.

I am really enjoying the game so far and I am playing singleplayer. However, from what I have seen the game really shines in multiplayer. Besides the hilarity of being wiped from a mob of slimes or just your dumb ass friend falling 200 feet down a mineshaft, the loot in the game as well as the building keeps the game interesting. I feel as a game overall its worth the $10. I would love to play with everyone on the CSn if we decide to somehow host a server for it (I believe the servers are LAN servers... so I don't know exactly how everything would work).

Arte just gifted me the game X3

I'm trying it out now. Hope I can get multiplayer to work.

EDIT, HERP DERP!: For some reason, I can't host a server. I read that I could do one in Hamachi, but I'll pass. I'll just wait until there's a dedicated server app.

I host my minecraft server via hamachi, it's really simple and takes 2 minutes.

As Fencerboy mentioned, I do have this game and have been playing it the last couple of days in Single Player. I did get the four-pack the day it came out and gave away copies to some of my friends. Exams just finished and graduation is tomorrow for my Senior friends so I'm hoping to do some multiplayer in the upcoming week.

I'm enjoying the single player a lot right now; I've gotten to a point that feels very end-game-y where I can finally just build stuff because I've acquired just about all the weapons an armor I really need. I'll have to play some multiplayer before I can decide how I feel about the game's replay value. Without mechanisms or circuitry like in Dwarf Fortress or Minecraft the game lacks a certain depth of complexity but as it is still in development I'm quite hopeful that some form of one or the other may be introduced.

It's like if Minecraft and Castlevania had a child, and the child had a pet Metroid. An odd way of looking at things, but that's pretty much what it is.

terraria is similar to minecraft for literally the first 10 mins, then it is it's own game.
I recommend buying it and doing the whole 4 pack giveaway thingie. Great game, but you are gona to get fucked if you have no idea what you are doing (pretty much like minecraft when it comes to surviving the first day/night, just mobs are on all day, and no bed to sleep to make it morning again

I've only heard that Terraria is a rather poor clone of Minecraft, but that's about it. I haven't looked up any reviews for it, but I'll look into picking up Terraria sooner or later.
Maybe.

I've only seen one review, which was IGN giving it a 9/10. I wouldn't call it a complete clone. Terraria is a Castlevania version of Minecraft, since you explore and fight more than you do create awesome houses.

Content with Minecraft, so I'll probably be the only person on my friends list without it.

I got bored of Terraria pretty quickly, actually. A lot quicker than Minecraft. After I got almost every item I couldn't be asked to keep playing the same stuff. And now I'm just too lazy to learn all these new update items.
