Love Nest/Funbox 2 Maps/Mod Suggestions

There's an old thread, but I'm going to let that stay dead, in favor of a fresh start.

But anyways, thanks to Fingerman, we can have easier control of our map selection, on the fun servers. But I would like to hear from you guys about what maps you want to see on the servers.

Post below any suggestions for maps that you guys have, along with a link to the map. From there, the pinkmins and I will vote on whether or not to include them.

Before we try to get rid of maps people like again why don't we add this to our mods.
So we can get people to vote on maps, to decide better on what needs to be removed.

I know WarioWare is a very wanted game mode, but I don't know of the map names. Also even though I haven't played on it, Slender sounds like a good mod due to the popularity, but that's just what I've heard from other people.

I should get to play again some during Christmas Break, and I would love to see a WarioWare mod on the Love Nest, but only if it works. Last time I played it (given that was 2 years ago), it was broke as hayell, and I heard it isn't being supported anymore.

A Slender mod? At 3 FPS with the sound muted, The Eight Pages made me douse my pants, and you wanna put me in a forrest alone with Moose and Slenderman?

Not to break anyone's hearts, but TF2Ware/WarioWare's a certain no, unless someone can point us to a working version of the mod.

We need a saxton hale spongebob map. We can go around fucking up spongebob and squidwards house and order krabby pattys all why getting chased by a shirtless australian man for no fucking reason. Also maybe we can try to update saxton to the way newest version because i think there is 25 bosses in vsh now.

At least a retry for the server, because we have a lot of fresh, new faces than when we tried it before.

I second a vote for randomizer. Hard to go wrong when you have a Heavy with a pistol.

Oh boy, time for opinions!

Dodgeball: Get rid of the recolors of maps. No reason to have the same map take up a vote slot. PUT FANTASTIC FINAL BACK! It was a wonderful break from the monotony of regular dodgeball.

Prophunt: Just get rid of it. Only time the thing is played is when non-regulars are on or when the map changes before a vote can go through.

Death Run: You should probably get that fixed. As well as removing dr_safety_first before it breaks the server more.

Freeze Tag: Same as Prophunt.

Saxton Hale: I dunno.

Fun Maps: Less try hardy stuff, like Orange and Toy Fort, if you attempt to win, both maps require you to spawn camp the enemy team.

I'm sure there's other stuff, but that's everything of the top of my head.

Just a heads up, that version of Helm's Deep is for Zombie fortress. Dunno if it changes the installation process or not but I just wanted to let you know.

Can we please get Zombie Fortress back? It was a hell-of-a-fun time, when we had it. We have not had it for a little bit, and, it would just be fun.

Alos, death run back please? I know that it was an issue it kept crashing, but maybe if somebody could fix it, or we just do a little number of maps, it may not break. Also, possibly just wipe it from the server, then put it back?

I put the reason as to why it was removed, on the group page. It's not coming back, until the issue with team switching is resolved.

Since that huge clamor for Zombie Fortress brought the dead and rotting thing back to life except worse, may I suggest something to replace it that is at the very least mildly good?

For the lazy, here's the info copy pasted.
"Super Zombie Fortress is a server-side mod created by Mecha the Slag, and is based off the earlier “Zombie Fortress” mod. The mod pits survivors (RED) to try and either outlast the map time or capture all the control points, while surviving the player-controlled zombies (BLU). (Scout, Heavy,and Spy) When a player dies, they are turned into a zombie. The last survivor is granted overheal, and their weapons get a 100% critical chance. The changes made in the Super version, is the map choice on making survivors start out with their melee weapon, and then have to find weapons along the way. Another is the addition of Special Infected. When a player does well as a zombie, they get a chance to become a “Special Infected”. The player then either becomes a Spy with a damaging lazer, or a Heavy with a powerful Splendid Screen that stuns on hit. There is word on a Special Infected for Scout, but it is not clear what that will do."

I've played it once before, and I assure you it's far better than the pile of rubbish redux that is currently on the server.

Of course you'd need SZF maps. There aren't any weapons to pick up on the regular ZF maps.

Of course you'd need SZF maps. There aren't any weapons to pick up on the regular ZF maps.


I can vouch for Hodge here. I've played on quite a few SZF maps with CSn friends and it is a blast. I think it could be really good for the server.

Since all these requests are being thrown in, can I request being able to be able to turn off ghost on the Love Nest? I seem to recall being able to do it on the Fun Haus at some point.

The version we had previously was cp_bestinclass_v1c.bsp which would cause server problems (either disconnecting all clients or crashing the server). I will upload the newer version and you guys can test it.

Never played it, but I happened upon the video. Looks sorta interesting.

Basically, everyone is red demoman with an extremely underpowered sticky launcher, they break the blocks which may give them powerups. if you die, you become a blu demoman up in the sky with an also extremely underpowered loch-n-load. When its down to two reds left, the blus become ghosts which kill upon contact.

Would be interesting, but mecha usually releases incomplete mods with lots of issues and then abandons them really quick with bad programming that is hard to work with and fix ourselves. Same problem with ZF and the new ZF.

Is there anyway to take no airblasting other players in dodgeball out of the rules that you see when you join the server because you cant even airblast people anymore it just kinda bugs me.

Also huntsman hell is pretty fun.

Can we please get wacky races, disneyworld and, balloon races back on lovenest because funbox 2 has them and we don't
also i would like to complain about this huge grammar error on the pony dispenser msg i know it isnt nessecary to fix but it really bugs me if there is a way to fix it that would be great.

ponyspencers can be used by anyone, so I think they should either be for anyone on the server and removed from donator perks list, or fixed for donators only again.

I think that since the message is advertised to everyone on the server regardless, we might as well keep it as a command for everyone to use.

After playing on tfdb_omgodm1n_b7 again today, it made me remember to ask if the map could be either replaced with a better map or taken out of the map directory all together. The map is generally pretty laggy and some of the water textures are missing if you're unfortunate enough to fall/lag off in to it. I generally have about 50 ping and can navigate through most maps like everybody else with ease, especially dodgeball, but this just seems like the one exception that anybody can experience lag on. People like Flufffage and Ava Ire, a regular on the server who gets about 30 ping, saw it again today. I don't know if I'm the only one to speak out about this, and I'm sorry if I'm not, but it just seems like one of those maps that needs to go.

I agre with Someone Special. I think it is fine too because 1), we generally do not play dodgeball too much, 2) if dodgeball, it is either swagrocket, float, or desert madness, and 3) I never had lag problems on the map when I was on my bad computer, so maybe it is just those people. I think it is a fun map to go on... :P

If I can suggest 2 old Csn maps and a new deathrun map, it would be these:

Also, I think we should remove some of the maps that do not get picked, because we could free some space of some sort and laso people would not get mad when a bad map or maps come up.

Finally, bring Disneyworld back, I wanna host more spycrab tournaments there!!! :D

After diagnosing my lag, I don't think it was related to the map since just after that, my internet connection clipped out on me. I'm ambivalent on this map.

For the love of all that is holy, the dragon needs to be removed.
It's not a very popular boss due to it's multiple modes of attack with literally no modifications to its other abilities
It's just saxton hale in a green scalesuit with a overly powerful phlog

If it were actually different than the above description, it'd be fine, but otherwise it's just pestering the hell out of people with it's additional glitch.

In addition, I just feel Saxton Hale in and of itself should be updated, or at least not have random weapons completely restricted so spies that still had a cloak and dagger aren't fucked over and heavies that have fists of steel don't get quick crits using the steak and a brass beast. For VSH, why not just unlock all the classes but restrict what the classes can do, take away the cloaks, make engies not build teleporters, restrict scout's double jump, remove charging shields, all of these are better than outright removing the classes, people still manage to win as hale even without these restrictions.

Since I saw Ender bring up the suggestions, I had a decent one.

If it's ever decided to have the server(s) get a plug-in that allows for people to go into bumper-carts, I say that we should have that as a new gamemode option.
For a starter map, this one could be good to race around and do stuff on: http://tf2.gamebanana.com/maps/183394

I'm pretty sure that the modding community is gonna make a ton more bumper/go-cart maps as time goes on, so I guess this could be a plausible gamemode to add to the miscellaneous modes that are currently available.

We played these maps today and came to the consensus that we would like to keep pacman and mountcoaster on the Love Nest. We'd like to replace the Hakurei that we have with the winter one, it was liked better.
Thought maybe the Fun Haus might benefit from toystore, but we're not set on it.

We'd still like to try the new flying fortresses, spacejam and majora's mask maps:

Tried these:
Space Jam is a keep (big surprise, everyone loves it)
Flying Fortresses seems to be quite buggy, while we like the added catwalk, its rather laggy; can't pick up health kits, and don't get me started on that spawn door.

add some fun maps like pl_manngroove and remove hale maps. Fluff said something about prop hunts map, sounds more fun actually than many other of the maps. "just a suggestion"

Or maybe only have Hale on one of the servers, not both
because redundancy is dumb

Autumn Twilight could cause problems due to the fog, but I'd give it a maybe. Maro Kart is also fun, most of the time, so it could work

A 2015 update for our lovely Balloon Race.

This version features:
- Poisonous water, implemented so that water sniping and ship camping is not much of a problem.
- Both boats have been remodeled so that the pilot of the ship is back in the new extended cabin, which is protected by 3 walls with breakable windows, and one wall without a breakable window. This is to help the pilots on the boat deal with Snipers who could camp the wheel of the enemy team's boat. Also the boat itself has gone through a massive modification in terms of design and some props were added. Added a level 3 dispenser.The windows on the lower part of the boat have been redone to be made like bars, which lets allows the player to easily shoot through it without having to go through the hassle of previously breaking glass. Navigation for both boats are now smoother, meaning for more accurate shooting from both teams while on a boat.
- Spawn doors for both teams have been unlocked for the entire duration of the round -- whether you decide to go fight on the boats or go and conga around with RED/BLU in the hangar is your choice.
- The first capture point now has two barricades for each team, making retreating easier. Dunno why, but sometimes these will move out of place as the boat goes towards the cap. Doesn't really affect gameplay, however.
- At the third capture point, a fence provides cover for the upper area, making it to where players on the cap cannot shoot at people on the ship above, while players behind the fence will have to go around or above it to shoot. There also has been added two barricades for cover, one on the left side near the cap, and one on the right side on the bottom. However, these barricades also have the same problem as the ones on the first cap. Perhaps a fix will come up later for this.
- The hill that the fourth capture point is on has been slimmed down, allowing for a narrow second trail to the enemy team's boat for players to traverse on.
- Added some general props for the map.
- Startup music has been changed for the map.

ON THAT NOTE:
I was looking around today and found the most updated version of the Saxton Hale gamemode, which has been updated last month on the 12th.
It'd be pretty cool to see it get updated sometime if that's okay.

All for Hale getting a needed update on the servers. Feels kind of stale hopping on VSH and having some of the newer weapons not have any added stats to improve them for Hale. Plus that new Balloon Race looks sweet.

Megamoose's year old post is right though, a randomizer would be a great replacement for a funbox. There's only 1 good arena randomizer (tf2randomizer.com) that doesn't have stupid extra stuff that gets in the way; And that server is populated 24/7. It would be a good idea for the server.

Having Randomizer on the server would be nice. I've been on other servers before with modes like Fort Wars and X10 and they were really fun. I just feel that on the servers, we all play the same modes with the same maps. We have a great selection of maps but the same ones get played every time. With more modes we'd as least have some variety. Just my opinion.

We had Fort Wars on here before. It was popular for a short while, but then the server got empty again near immediately. We could indeed try it out to see what it's like, because of the new community.
X10 is a little bit harder... I know that some people in the community would love a X10 mode, because of its wild shenanigans... but then again... we would have to test it out to see if it's popular.

A thing we need is a message at the 20 or 30 minute mark of a map to see what people rate it, and we need it at the end because then people can truly rate what they feel about the map.

Also, we would need to test out all of these on the more popular fun server (and we really need to re-populate bad) so we can get more community members back in.

TL;DR: Me: I want Rando, X10, and Fort Wars, not sure bout others. Rate system near end of maps. More community members = better.

Much as I hate to admit it, the Love Nest is dying.

Once a thriving server, almost always full, now almost always empty unless an admin posts an event (which is next to never, unless I'm missing them).

This server was how I found CSn. And it would hurt to see it go.

We need to collaborate. Figure out what makes people join a server. Maybe rename the server (keep Love Nest, but shorten the name that appears in the server list, because I don't know about you guys but I hate reading 15-word names).

Let's crank out suggestions. No answer is a wrong answer.

I'll give the first one: we need more active admins. I won't volunteer because my schedule for playing is unreliable and small. But for a while, admins were the primary reason the server was popped.

Here's another thing, more of an observation than a suggestion: I've seen all kinds of suggestions here but no implementations. I'm not shitting on Finger, I know he's busy, and I figure maybe we just haven't nailed down what exactly we want to add to the server. But we really need to start adding modes and maps and whatnot.

So, two things. Just putting them out there.

1) I found a plugin for TF2 Kart, plus a great map to accompany it on Gamebanana. I feel that this would bring in a lot of people into both fun servers. As I remember, back last year on Halloween, everyone loved the bumper karts, but didn't like the re-skinned Doomsday itself. If anything, I could find more maps for the mode, as there are a good couple out there as it is.

And 2) We've been on Saxton Hale/Death Run a couple times, and I've observed that it works half of the time. Like earlier, we were on dr_safetyfirst, and it just prompted us to be in Arena mode for the entirety of the round, and it'll do the same thing on some Saxton Hale occasions. But a couple days ago, I played it, and it worked fine, so there's a chance of it not being Arena mode when you go into either game modes. If anything, I feel the reasoning for this is because of the Lime Flavored Dragon boss conflicting with the current plugin as the Dragon isn't one of the Saxton characters to get updated along with the mode itself. If it could be looked into, I feel that this might be your problem.

I think this should be on a map-by=map basis, as some players enjoy specific maps (for example Cloudsdale or Mario Kart) and like to be on them for extended periods of time.

Silver Valley is very boring, and has nothing to do in it.

dm_museum has definite promise. If we were to get it, however, some areas are going to be inaccessible, such as the admin room, due to the fact they were made for a no-clip in scenario.

pl_losthorizon has some promise. Seems like it could be fun when the servers get a bit of a population.

I was unable to find a server for dr_hourglass_v1, and I kept crashing when trying to load it in. However, if we were able to get it working on one of the servers, it could prove interesting, as the map adapts according to the author.

sky_plaza, similarly to Silver Valley, has nothing to do, as it is just a wide open map with wide textures.

koth_spinnie is small, and not a whole lot of fun, and would not work well in the servers.

sunrise_temple had some interesting architecture, and could be worth a try.

cp_snowplow in all it's glory with the last, and claimed to be final, update for it. I'm sure it'd be a pretty neat map to have on the servers, as well as one that could potentially help pop, as a lot of people have been wanting to play it since it was ruled out for Duckageddon.
I've personally played on it twice. Was pretty neat how they implemented everything, and gameplay was reasonably balanced.
