Unwanted Gamemodes and Improvements

Me, Lime and Grey Fox were talking and we thought it might be a good idea to replace jump maps with something more interesting. Randomizer was the initial thought and it seems like a good idea. I haven't seen anyone vote for jump maps and there are servers dedicated to it anyways, that and Randomizer plus freeze tag sounds like it would be hilarious. Also we talked about DB and we thought we needed more maps. Fox thought of tfdb_sandvich as one to add.

Post what you think below or what else you think would be a nice edition to the server.

yes. randomizer was hilarious when we had it on FB2 and i think it would make a great addition to the gamemodes on love nest. to be honest with jump maps they only really annoy most the regulars and tend to kill the server when theyre on. and along with adding sandvich i would reccomend removing trainfalls as no one i have seen actually had a good opinion of the map at all.

Well originally jump maps were going to be their own server. I don't know why they were put on LN.

I suggested that to Finger a week or so ago. Hell, if we had that, I would stop in there from time to time. But according to him it's "too unstable". I'm callin' you out Finger. Give it a chance.

Don't know if you know but the Hidden was originally a HL2 Deathmatch mod. They decided to make a TF2 version and yes it is currently unbalanced. As far as I know its still being worked on but I don't have any news on it other than that.

Also, yesterday I was playing TF2x10 as a pyro with the back scratcher, and I hit a heavy with the fists of steel.

It did 2,761 damage.

And it wasn't a crit.

On the flip side, there was a hacker (heavy with aimbot, crits, speed, and namechanging hacks), I went fists of steel heavy, and he did zero damage to me. In fact when I got close to punch him he ran away like a coward. It was hilarious.

100% extra melee damage x 10 = 1000%
300x6=1800
1000% of 1800 is 18000 damage
not thats alot of damage

Perhaps we could also remove Heavy Boxing and replace it with a different? Maybe Surf Maps?

I dunno about surf maps. I feel it would be similar to Jump Maps, where people don't take the time to learn it properly. Then the servers just depops.

I don't understand why it was removed in the first place.

It's actually a lot more irritatingly easy for the boss to win without the knockback if they are competent at what they are doing seeing that they can essentially run through anything that ranges from rockets, to sticky traps, to sentries, and loose cannons without even remotely being deterred in the slightest way.

There must not be any dead ringers.... ALSO NO LITTLE PANZY MAN HIDING IN THE CORNER WITH A CLOAK N &^%$.... also people complain about engineers but really all you gotta do is be smarter then the engy to beat their sentrys or simply just kill the engy and the turret follows.
One frying pan is all I need to re-enact 300 in a server for 24.

That only works well if you are a soldier or heavy. Engie's are f***** annoying. I don't think spies would be worth it w/o the DR. CnD would be fine, if we could implement the Saxton watch where you loose hp for being cloaked imo.

Going back to what Creed said about the hidden, we tried that gamemode before.
Safe to say it sucked.
Some highlights of this mode are multiple medics and heavies camping in the spawn with ammo close at hand and with their backs to the wall.
This gamemode also had an annoying habit of emptying the server as soon as it was booted up.
Not only that, but the spy has roughly the same ammount of health a spy normally does, making it very easy to kill. So what if it can't be set on fire and heals a miniscule ammount of health upon a kill. It Just. Doesn't. Pan. Out.
I was one of the people who opted to have this mode removed, and I'll be damned if I see it return.

So in short,

no

As knockback on VSH, there should be some more bosses just to spice things up; i.e. Administrator, Gangplank, Ninja Spy, Painis Cupcake. Nothing wrong with any of the bosses now, but I think a little more variety would be beneficial.

For freeze tag, spies could be very useful imo. I remember before spies were banned on it, the dead ringer would cause the user to be frozen for a second or two, which could be a problem.

And I also agree with spies being useful on freeze tag. Right now, it's basically whichever team has the most heavies and/or medics wins. We need some spies to counter this. Perhaps we can limit them to using only the invis watch and its skins to make it fair.

Variety is one thing.
Balance is another.

I am not sure about the administrator, but Ninja Spy's rage is rather irritating along with the rage he gets with every death, which allows him to take out a significant amount of people by speeding around the damn map.
Gangplank has a rage that reaches around the entire map, regardless of where you are, and it is just simply rather irritating.

I say keep pyros but limit the amount avalible to like 2 or 1. Although no time limit is a great idea it also holds one great problem. YOUR FOREVER CLOAKED! If one little *&^%er of a troll gets his hands on the hiddens power and knows how to super jump they will hide in a corner somewhere! (Although Yes, there are these things we have called "ADMINS" theres always the possibility of none being online.) unless this is the same version as last time where the hidden dies after a certain amount of time due to no one being eating by Ol'spooky then at least add like 3 or 4 minutes to the game. I'm glad the hidden has been given another chance and i PRAY that it dosen't get removed. :mrgreen:

It is the version that the guy dies after not attacking after a while. Also, there's a jailbreak mod for TF2 which I think would be great on the server.

Agreed as well, hidden while fun at times turned in to a "everyone stand with their backs to the wall in spawn" fest that got really boring really fast and killed the server. We've talked about maybe making hidden a special boss in Saxton but nothing has really happened with that. Not enough modders we can call on to help us out.

This I kinda agree with. I liked it better with knockback myself. I believe the reason we removed it was because on smaller maps Saxton didn't really have much of a chance to get near anyone, namely granary.
