Constant crashes

by Niko Jims » Thu Jul 19, 2012 12:39 am

Alright, I'm not sure why this is happening, but every time I leave the servers or the map changes, I crash. So far, it's only happening on these servers and our team's match server. I went on other sv_pure 0 servers and everything was working perfectly. Anyone else experience this or is it just me?

There was one person who also had this problem, but fixed it by reinstalling tf2 and or verifying his game cache.

I think this is the fix for that problem. It also takes a lot less time, so I'd try it first regardless.

Also look for a file that's like gamedata.blob or just search .blob in your steam folder, and delete it. don't worry steam will redownload it.

I've been crashing all the damn time, but I just assumed that it was some fuckup on Valve's part.

I usually only crash when I try to delete an old, unedited replay of mine

I crash when I try to pick soldier occasionally.

I verified my game cache and that did not fix the problem. I looked for gamedata.blob and it is no where to be found. I then tried logging onto an alt ad disconnecting. At first it looked like it was going to crash, but in the end it did not. I don't really feel like uninstalling and re-installing TF2 right now, so if anyone else has this problem try it out for the sake of my lazy ass.

Edit: People on SPUF with the same problem are saying that re-installing the game did not fix it for them.

sorry it was ClientRegistry.blob

Also look at this and just make sure you're kosher. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -TIAV-5361
The best thing to do would be to find the tf2 log. (crashlog.) i'm not sure where you need to look for that though.

Tried it, but unfortunately did not work, either.

Maybe it has something to do with sound mods, because I've noticed lately that some of my sound mods do not work on these servers, they just make really weird noises or just plain don't work.

It's probably not just the sound mods, though I can basically confirm that they do cause game crashes on servers that don't allow them; I've experienced it myself. Just turns the sound into static.
(that's the only reason why my soldier doesn't sound like a girl all the time)
