This has been happening to several players with a lot of promo/unusuals. Their emails have been targeted (passwords probably stolen through keyloggers). The hackers seemingly use the email to get steam to resend the steam password to the email, and thus taking over your steam account as well.
This has happened to both Crucifx, Ponch, PinkPanther...etc
The hackers then seemingly create several accounts to trade off the unusuals cheap for promos.
In ponch's scenario, the unfortunately end was that Steam restored the backpack, but returned the password back to the steam account, thus handing the hacker his steam account on a silver platter. I hope you work this out with Steam/Valve.

That sucks man. I've also had my account hijacked and it sucks ass. However, if you're calm and just trust Steam Support to help you out, this entire ordeal will be over soon. After that, you'll be cracking jokes about it. Hell, I'll never live down the whole steamcommunity.tk joke that fingerman loves so much.

Yeah thats good, maybe if i get my backpack back in time it'll have my stuff back. And even though its set to private im pretty sure my stuff is still there. You guys saw what he wrote to people. Most hackers dont do that. They just clear shit out and never use the account again.

Also, this dumbass used some vintage hats and dead cones to craft a hat. I actually wrote to valve that the easiest way get all my lost items back was to just restore my backpack to how it was the day before the hack where you can see that no items are missing. And then june 30th there were patches of missing items.

It's easy to hack steam accounts, sadly. This is one of the biggest reasons why I have four different accounts. My original account back when steam first started was hacked and they managed to get my credit card number through my steam account. They bought 400$ worth of games. It was horrible. I had to cut the card and abandon the account. Valve, at that time, were not as fast when it came to lost account issues. I now have 3 other accounts that are for secret playing, troll playing, and for family. They are each new accounts on different computers, so it's near impossible to track my main to my others. Now that I think about it, it is like running different identities. I just can't play at work or school with the nuts on my main, and I can't subject my little brothers or dad to the nuts on my main either.

Sorry bros. Getting your account hacked sucks a lot.
