Crashes

by Maringue » Sun Apr 17, 2011 2:34 pm

So TF2 has been a crash machine since the update. Crashed twice during map changes (specifically at the end of the old map before the new starts to load in) and once during the middle of play. This is 3 crashes in about 2 hours of play.

Anyone else having this issue?

PS. Thanks Valve for making sure your update works

My brother (retroAl) and I have been experiencing the same thing. I dont really blame valve though, they had some major code changes on top of some servers not being ready for the change.

I've been crashing a ton since Hatless. I'm off the game until a stability update comes out.

I've been fine on other servers, something is going on with critsandvich. the Reddit servers seem to be doing fine, I get most of my crashes here.

Delete your .blob files and see if that helps

I'll give that a shot. And speaking of that, who the fuck thought it was a good idea to name it a .blob file? Nothing good has ever been named a blob, ok except for this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Boy_and_His_Blob:_Trouble_on_Blobolonia

I can't even load the game on my MacBook, and I do get the occasional crash on my PC.
Overall the gameplay is fucked up, and I'm having to re-learn a lot of things.

Hibiscus, they say they fixed a Mac crash. Perhaps solves your problem?

They only fixed the executable file crashing before it launches. It now launches but it still crashes when I try to play.

Reach into your program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\<username>\team fortress 2\ directory and delete the tf folder. run tf2.
if you have any custom files install as always...unless your custom files cause crashes, in which case don't.

this should fix a lot of incompatibility errors between game content files that may have risen from so many updates

I got that as an e-mail from Steam Support back in August.
I tried it this time around and it didn't work.
