It might lessen your ping a little.
It wouldn't affect me much, however, since the new server and the old server would be about equidistant. (I typically average around 35-50 ping, for the record.)

i want the 2 slayboxes we have in chicago xD then add a 3rd slaybox for westcoast, dont replace the ones we have now. chicago is the best location in the united states for hosting servers though, best results stay in chicity

Already removed, Dex. The Euro Slaybox would likely be removed for the same reason.

First thing that came across my mind... I wouldn't play on it unless invited for some reason, so it really doesn't effect me. But since this is a community, maybe you should save your allowance and buy SlayBox3 Dallas?

I do like the idea of having a West Coast Slaybox, but I don't think a petition should have been made if there has been discussions about starting one up, like what Failhorse said. Also, unless someone that lives on the West Coast is willing to donate a server, I say wait until the redmins come to a decision. It's probably not cheap to rent, and the redmins will most likely do their research on server providers before they decide to rent.

It wouldn't have affected me much either. I would have gotten in the 150s maybe, but not much of a difference between 250 and 150.

Actually, I know what they are talking about. On the >100ms pings, the difference between 50ms and 80ms is a huge fucking deal. Up where us international are at, a difference in 100ms is nothing.

I'm not shooting down the idea of getting a third server, but just to clarify: there's no way we're going to replace SB2 with a west coast server. That would require changing IPs, which would lose most of our audience who uses favorites. Not really worth it.

Just changing the funbox made us lose roughly 75% of our FB patrons. (But also for other reasons such as going to Psyk's, which their IP didn't change). But many just didn't recall the IP.

Almost every day I find someone who tells me "Oh wow, I finally found the new IP! Awesome!" or such @_@
