I need help with Dota 2.

by VoltySquirrel » Wed Mar 21, 2012 7:14 am

As parsifals just recently found out, I got beta access to Dota 2. MOBAs are games I have almost no experience with aside from a couple games Dota-Allstars in WC3 (incidentally, I also have almost no experience in Counter-Strike, but yet here I am with CS:GO beta access). Aaaanywhoooo, like every new player, I'm fucking awful. parsifals tried and to a certain extent succeeded in teaching me a bit, but a lot of the core mechanics are lost to me. I tried to watch a couple tutorials on the JewTubes, but most of the videos still talk to the viewer as if they know all the mechanics, heroes, and terminology which is frankly impossible to absorb. Can any of you experienced MOBA players recommend any decent noob-friendly guides, videos, heroes, etc. or just talk to me and anyone else new to the genre about the game? I'd wuv you sow much if you did.

I'd appreciate this too. I haven't even braved the game outside of speccing and playing with bots, and I still have no idea what's going on.

I WANT INTO CS:GO! D:

Anyways, JimBoBob plays a ton of Dota 2, and he's willing to teach someone new to the game. (or at least me)

Actual commentary begins around 10 minutes? Can't quite recall.

I am a very experienced player in LoL. Thus dota 2 was simple to grasp in the end. I don't mind helping out the new folks.

Volty, I would love to be bad at Dota 2 with you, together. As long as you don't mind losing every match B-)

I'm also down for some bad DotA2. Seems like most of my teams lately feature a raging and/or leaving teammate. This will be a nice change.

In every game I've played I've had a teammate who spoke / typed in only Russian despite only doing U.S. matchmaking.

I usually get Brazilians, or speakers of Portuguese in general.
