Anyone playing Brink? Should we look at a server?

by Failhorse » Wed May 11, 2011 12:45 pm

It seems all these new games that allow dedicated servers fall flat on their face after a few month.
I still say TF2 has the best dedicated server support. The MOTD + Mods allow a community to form and
the gameplay keeps people coming back. Or in Unicorn's favor, hats.

Anyway. We could possibly run a Brink dedicated without incurring additional cost. But we'd need players/admins from the community to help run it.

Thoughts?

Played Brink for a few hours after the midnight release... wasn't too impressed for how much they hyped it up...

Single player is a complete joke

Multilayer is always in favor of defenders to the point that I've yet to see an offensive team win.

It's a pretty cool concept though, not sure how big/determined the audience is.

I'm kind of predicting another APB to be honest

I plan on getting the game sometime, so I would be happy to help if we decide to start one up.

I'm looking at the game right now, thinking about getting it. It's very, very intriguing from what I've seen, but I have a lot of games at the moment and I'm not sold yet.

EDIT: Count me out at this point. Sounds like I'd be sick of it in a week.

Pretty much.

They need to do 3 things for the game.

Fix the maps since their level design is poor cause of how SUPER sided it is for Def

You can rank cap WAY fast.

And APB was worse lol

Brink is pretty fun.

Turn off camera bobbing, imo. It gives me terrible motion sickness.

Played it, and I love it.

Its the only game preventing me from getting on TF2 right now, and to be honest, the replay value is REALLY high, becuase there are so many abilities that you cant just get on the first 2 runs. Resetting your abilities forces you down a level, so it makes you think about whether you want to lose a level, and quite possibly a rank, or start a new character.
Oh look, a gay furry wolf.

Got to look at this from the average player perspective. Is there any way to communicate with players in the game? Like an Motd? I'm guessing mods aren't going to happen.

Haven't played it, but I'll certainly buy if it goes on sale. Or if I feel like spending $50.00 on a game. I've seen quite a few videos of it, and I love it already. Don't know much about the servers, but this should definitely be looked into. EDIT: Looking at the posts on this thread a second time it may not work. But hey, it does have at least 300 (probably) people playing it, maybe more people will play it.

No MOTD, the main way to get player's attentions is through the server browser, where you can make your server name obnoxious colors. Even then, the browser sucks.
