I grew up playing SC2, 3 and 4. Can't wait for SC5 to come out, and the GlassBox engine looks amazing.

Indeed... but it should still be representative of the concepts of the actual game, like choosing plopping which corporate HQs you want to have, and letting them define the shape and mentality of your city, and the fact that good or bad decisions you make as a mayor can affect the cities around you, like when the RED city was heavily polluting the river, it clogged the BLU city's hydro plant and shut down their power.

What I gather from the Reddit AMA anyway. I R excited.

I'm just happy zoning is back and the old SC devs from Maxis are returning for the project. SimCity Societies was a total letdown.

They also said they want the game to be available through as many services as possible, so hopefully EA won't force us to use Origin.

I fondly remember Sim City 2000, but unfortunately never really got into Sim City 3 and beyond.

The smoke from the factories in the first image seems to put out a light smog in your city, which is pretty awesome.
I don't like the fire not affecting the shadows on the buildings around them with any form of tint or glow, as is most apparently missing on the leftmost building on the third pic.

I wonder what started those fires...
A majority of the building designs I happen to like, but a few of them look weird, like I'd find them on a gameboard.

So do they have an idea of when in 2013 this will come out? I'm hoping it's during the Summer because I can't afford to spend the countless hours I will during the school year.

There isn't a set release date yet, and they're not saying anything since giving people an actual date will just make them angry one way or another.
