Weird connection issues

by Ron Swansons Stache » Wed Jan 21, 2015 3:32 pm

So the past couple of weeks I've been having these weird connection issues. About 75% of the time (Maybe more) when I try to join CSN I get hung up on the "Sending Client Info" part and eventually time out (after literally like a half hour). The only way I'm able to get into the server is if I join another server (sometimes NO servers work and I have to join a single player local server) and join CSN from there.

I've searched around a lot and it seems like a common issue but I haven't found a real way of fixing it. I've done port forwarding, another place said to hit Cancel when you get to Sending Client Info but I'm unable to click anything at that point. I've also tried reinstalling TF2 twice. Anyone experience this before/know how to fix this? It's really annoying as hell.

Consider trying to verify your local game cache under the tf2 game settings. This will sometimes fix a lot of generic issues related to the game.

Thank you sir, will consider that my next go-around. I think I've 'defragged' the files but that didn't do anything. Hadn't bothered to verify since I uninstalled but anything's worth a shot at this point.

You could try that. Also look at any possible firewall settings.

I forgot to mention checking your printer cable too.

Should I try downloading some more RAM?

Yeah. But your HDD may be full. So download a bigger hard drive then more RAM. If your connection is too slow download more bandwidth before either of those things.
