So I've saved up enough for a new computer....

any recommendations on what I should get?

This site looks decent but I can't tell if it's legit or set up to sell the products on it:
http://www.build-gaming-computers.com/g ... puter.html

Things I desire in said computer: being able to get good fps, less then 800 dollars would be nice, the windows OS, something that can I can use in college for computer science well, being able to run tf2 + interent radio without slowdown, ect.

thanks for your help in advance, I'm clueless as my only computer I have is my macbook pro I use for school and gaming, but getting above 20 fps would be nice.

If anyone has headphone, microphone, and mouse advice I'd like to hear it too.

You should build your own computer; I will maybe help you with this later; busy right now; but it's a good deal often.

No need to bump for a topic that's less than a day old owo

Anyways, is the budget of $800 for the computer parts only, or does that include the OS, monitor, accessories, etc.?

I could always pirate the OS but yeah, I'd like to spend no more then that for a computer, but I'd be willing to spend more if it would be truly worth it.

That's the same site I'm using to build a PC myself. It looks legit to me, and the templates don't seem to have a lot of brand bias. I'm going with the budget build myself, maybe get the sound card from the mid range build and possibly a larger hard drive if I can afford it.

Just build one on newegg. Here is an example I just made:

SAMSUNG CD/DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-222AB $16.99
GIGABYTE GZ-F2HEB Black SECC Steel / ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $24.99
HITACHI HDS721050CLA362 (0F10381) 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive $79.99
GIGABYTE GA-M68MT-S2 AM3+ NVIDIA GeForce 7025/nForce 630a chipset Micro ATX AMD Motherboard $49.99
SAPPHIRE 100338L Radeon HD 6770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card $109.99
PNY Optima 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model MD8192KD3-1333 $31.99
AMD FX-6100 Zambezi 3.3GHz Socket AM3+ 95W Six-Core Desktop Processor FD6100WMGUSBX $159.99
RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-730SS 730W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Modular LED Power Supply $59.99
Subtotal: $533.92

I built one for my cousin that was amd 6 core with 8 gigs of ram for ~380 on black friday. Otherwise the price is about ~540. I saved a lot. The key is to find components that you desire, then mix and match. Make sure your cpu/mobo/ram is all compatible. This is mainly done by reading the motherboard manuals online and looking at feedback. I will usually only buy manufacturer supported memory, but if they have old test information that will not be possible.

I'd recommend Ibuypower if you want it premade, or newegg if you'll do it yourself and your patient. Soooo many good sales if you just wait it out, especially with Christmas here. Both sites will have amazing sales.

NVIDIA GPUs run hotter than ATI cards, but they're less likely to bug out and have crippling compatibility issues with new games.

Q1 2012, and they should drop all the current generation chips in price when they release, so it'll be a good time to pick up a GTX 560 on the cheap.
