Turkey hat [UPDATED] Now with a nest!

by NBC011795 » Wed Nov 02, 2011 10:54 am

A few weeks ago I decided to try to make a Thanksgiving themed hat, and naturally the first thing that came to mind was a turkey.

This is what I was able to come up with,

Any thoughts?

A very nice design. The contours are well defined and the hat definitely has a nice sharp look to it. I would make one suggestion though. Perhaps you could add a little nest for it to sit in, so as to cover the scalp/top of head of the character model. It looks a little odd the way it is now, like the engi just grew a turkey out of his head or something.

I thought about doing that didn't think it would fit, but I put up a poll to see what everyone else thinks. (If its yes then I hope I have enough polys free to make it)

Since The vote clearly showed that people wanted a nest I tried to make one, I wish I could make it better though....... Stupid polycount limits

Try inverting the nest so it fits over the the player model's head.
I refuse to use
    Soda Popper
    Liberty Launcher
    Axtinguisher; Phlogistinator
    Stickybomb Launcher
    Tomislav
    Pomson 6000
    Quick Fix
    Bushwacka; Machina
    Enforcer; Spycicle

on CSn servers.
I don't expect you to, but I appreciate those of you that do.

Thank you for taking my advice, but I agree with Tech, if you inverted it so it covered the character model's head, I think it'd look better. Please, give it a try if you wish.

If the turkey was smaller and the nest was bigger/made of straw so it covered more the engie's head
Bacon is delicious.

Do you mean flipping it so that the inside part where the turkey is sitting is covering the head?

Other than that, it looks great so far.

Sorry for the lack of constructive criticism.

Exactly. I think this would allow the turkey to be the focus of attention on the hat.

Ah, now that looks like a hat I'd like to have! :D Perhaps you could taper the top a bit into a slope so as to draw the eye up towards the turkey from the face, but otherwise, it looks great!

Alright, name generation time!

I'll just list of random ideas: Troubled Turkey, Colonial Feast, Feasible Foul, Fresh Fowl, Confusingly Comfy Nest, Warm as Hell, Harvest Holiday Hat, Harvest Holiday Hard Hat, Meleagris Gallopavo, (the scientific name), Guarded Gallapova, The Laborer's Little Buddy.

Just some ideas, I'll think of more later probably.

Also, could you post another pic of the whole hat?

Liking the names so far! (the only name I could think of was a rather thankful turkey  ).

And for the Image, the first post has the full hat, but to make things easier I'll post it again.

EDIT* Added a new Image sooooooo.....

Instead of just nitpicking, I feel I must contribute something positive to the thread.

Therefore, I shall suggest a name: "The Gallivanting Gobbler."

The latest design looks the best.

As for a name, I submit the "Pilgrim's Pride"
Description: "A nostalgic hat from simpler, colder, more desperate times"

Funny you should mention that name, I was thinking of making a normal pilgrim hat with that name

Besides that, I'm currently thinking The Gallivanting Gobbler is good, but I'll be putting it in the workshop in the morning (US central time) so you have until then to leave more name suggestions.

note* This is probably going to be made for all classes (at least multi-class ;))

It'd have to be a pretty unique hat. How were you planning on making the design different than the Carouser's Capotain?

That's one thing I was concerned about, I haven't started it yet, but I was thinking of changing a few things like making it more top hat-like, but idk if I'll even try.

It has 5 stars atm, but it needs more ratings for it to be easier for other people to find and rate, so if anyone here could rate it, it would be appreciated.

You do realize that by taking my name, you've legally entitled me to a percentage of any profits made off of your creation right?

Mwa Ha Ha!

Anyway, to rate I go!
