Techercizer's guide to being a competent Medic

by Techercizer » Sat Oct 29, 2011 9:50 pm

1) Don't Pocket
2) Don't use slot1
3) Prioritize people who haven't taken damage in a while; they heal at 3x the rate of in-combat patients
4) When running away, crouch-jump constantly so that explosions will boost you
5) Run away, back up, or retreat if you think you are in immanent danger. Leave the melee attacks to the more experienced Medics.
6) Abandon your patient if he is putting you in danger or unable to protect you
7) Look behind and around you constantly; check for spies while healing.
8) If you're not healing someone, be running to find someone to heal
9) You can't save everyone
10) Don't hold ubers longer than you have to
11) Once someone reaches 150% overheal, drop them and find someone else to heal. When the group is overhealed, switch back and forth between patients to top them up.

Sometimes the best medicine is preventative, and sometimes, it's amputation.

Melee easy kill targets, before they kill you.
Blutsauger is a POS, unless you are fighting another medic.
If the scout knows what he is doing, scout ubers can be very effective.
Always keep your teammates overhealed, even turtle engies. Uber the engie if he comes uber fire, he will easily be able to keep his sentry alive threw massive spam.
Heal ally spies that are on fire, to put them out so they can quickly get back to work.
Well, healing the heavy that is taking a lot of heavy fire instead of the people hiding behind a wall... yes priority... otherwise everyone (sometimes excluding ally spies mainly cause the overheal will give them away as they try to cloak and get away) needs to be overhealed. To the scoot to the sniper.
You can flash uber the demo to keep him from taking fall damage when he lands.

Anymore?
What do you mean syringes don't go there? I am the doctor here... they go where I say they go.

Abandon your patient if he is putting you in danger or unable to protect you

To reiterate this:

Your life is more important then any other member of a team. If you think you're going to die, get out of there. The Ubercharge is the most gamechanging aspect in this entire game, the longer it takes to build one up the worse off your team is.

Also, pop it, don't drop it. If you think you're about to die, pop the Uber.
I play Scout and Medic a lot.

By the way, an ubered medic can stop carts.
I totally found this out a few days ago. Eight seconds is a valuable amount of time, and if there's nobody else around, it's completely worth it to do something.

Uber defends/contests any objective, and caps no objective.
