I think we need to expand our map selection.

I love good custom maps, and I think its a shame that none of our regular servers use them. So, I was thinking of either making one of the SBs a custom rotation or implementing some custom maps in our servers. I even did some looking for a few. There is even a Minecraft inspired one in there. Just gimme your thoughts on this guys.

Yeah, I've been thinking that SB3 might be the best with it. Gotta get with Benny to be sure I know what I am editing when I change the custom map-vote system on SB3.

Well anything that adds variety is welcome. I suggest we create a thread for the custom maps used, have people post suggestions for new ones, and for convenience, have a .zip folder of all maps in the server. If this all gets worked out, I'll try and maintain that. I feel like helping out the community.

I know. I thought you'd enjoy Minepit though, so I added that one in for you specifically.

Some of those maps do look pretty sweet. There are some issues with a custom map server that need to be addressed though. I'm for a custom map server as long as we keep all the custom maps off the regular servers. Custom maps kill regular servers.

Anyway, the biggest issue is a map list. We need to have one and not deviate from it. This is so people can come on the forums and download the map-pack for our custom server in one go. I have a stupid fast internet connection and even I find downloading custom maps annoying when I'm trying to connect.

Second, no stupid custom sounds. I can't speak for others, but nothing makes me cancel my connection to a server faster than a big list of stupid custom sounds being downloaded.

Other than that, we just need to vet any potential maps by getting some admins to play test them. Custom maps tend to have more griefing spots than Valve maps, so the admins need to know where they are and if there are too many of them.

We've tried a custom maps server serveral times. We even tried a custom maps night. Keep in mind this was when we had a fast dl URL too. it didn't work.
