While I do not in the slightest condone the level of pure asshattery that our members exhibited on one of our servers, I also do not condone the mother's "everyone else's fault" attitude that started this whole exchange. So, in the end, they were both acting like dicks, and nothing significant was accomplished that day.

Game research is good.....along with voice chat disable....and can even do a little googling and find the script to disable text chat also.

But that would require a willingness to learn about and take responsibility for her child's gaming interactions, which would likely have led to her not buying an 18+ game in the first place!

Indeed. Don't buy 18+ games to your children if you don't want them to hear and see bad stuff. It's like buying a Grand Theft Auto game and returning it because you don't approve of car robbery. O.o

it's freaking kid .... what would be nice is if these ppl that attack these kids would just get banned .... if i was able to have a kid 1 day ...i would like to share my love for games with them ... but i guess you would have to have a kid to understand all of this ...

Agreed. There should be the occasional message flashed to the server saying "If in need of an admin, please refer to our steam group and check to see what admins are online." Trolling is trolling, but this was douche-baggery.

As with 10 year olds. My kids go outside. They get 1 hour on something if they're really good. Maybe once a week.

This is why I'm almost always camped out in IRC, except for the times when I'm not. Which isn't THAT often.
