Creating Hats In Tf2

For a few days now I've been thinking about creating some hats for tf2. I dont really have much of an idea of what I'm going to make yet (still looking through my ideas) but has anyone ever tried it? Or does anyone have any useful tips, videos, guides for it?

Never heard back from Valve. I think I'd like to make some modifications, little things. Really get it in shape. I might start that soon, but for now I'd just like to play.

Yeah, i wouldnt wanna just forget about about that hat since valve didnt respond. Its a great hat and i think a lot of people would want it

A few days ago I made a hat, it wasn't very cool, just a headband with a balloon tied to it, I did send it in though.
