RULES:

You must accumulate enough hlstats points to be top ranked in the top 100 to be eligible for the contest drawing. Points can only be earned from 4/2/11 to 4/30/11 You can only accumulate points while playing in SLAYBOX 1 (69.175.33.150:27015) or SLAYBOX 2 (216.52.143.85:27015). All of the top 100 players have an equal chance to win a top prize. Prizes will be drawn and then announced in May. You can not pick which prize you will receive. All prizes must be picked up in 2 weeks following the announcement of the winners. All users must be a registered user on critsandvich.com forums in order to pick up their prize. Only 53 out of the 100 top players will win a prize.

No, Easter has a dumb schedule that changes. The last time it was April 17th was in 1960 and the next time will be is in 2022, except for Orthodox Christians who will celebrate it on the 24th that year and will not celebrate it on the 17th until 2039.

I think I like this method of distributing the prizes better. Not so many people will get so angry because it's easier to make it to the top 100 and everyone has a fair chance instead of the best items being restricted to the top 10. Well done rem! If you type "stats" in chat in the server it should list the stats for the contest. If you type "rank" in game that rank is for the contest.

Is anyone else feeling cheated?
I was playing earlier and I saw that some guy with more points than me was getting 10 points for killing me! From this along with some things SpoonFox told me I've concluded this must be a device to eliminate the possibility of someone outside the sphere of "elites" from getting more than a few hundred points. I was so mad I wanted to just bolt out of this whole community.
Nevertheless I probably won't get very far because I have a big-ass assignment to work on this month (the same issue that held me back in February).

Haven't played myself since the contest started (don't plan to) but the whole objective of this contest was to keep the elite from getting everything. Its most likely a oversight, nothing to get too upset about. I'll make sure finger knows

usually if i die from someone low ranking i lose 12 and they gain 25 but now i lose 25 while they gain 25

Is there any way to cap the max points you can gain/lose at 12? This -25 points is a bit excessive. Right now I'm being robbed like a bank. Now I have to play spammy demo, spy, engineer, or medic. Something that brings home the bacon (points).

if the other person gains 25 from killing you you were supposed to only lose 12
that how it was last contest
it was half: ex
he gains 6 for killing you, you lose 3
he gains 12 for killing you, you lose 6
etc

1. How are players tracked? Or, why is my name listed more than once?

Players are tracked by Unique ID. Your Unique ID is the last two sections of your Steam ID (X:XXXX).

A player may have more than one name. On the Player Rankings pages, players are shown with the most recent name they used in the game. If you click on a player's name, the Player Details page will show you a list of all other names that this player uses, if any, under the Aliases section (if the player has not used any other names, the Aliases section will not be displayed).

Your name may be listed more than once if somebody else (with a different Unique ID) uses the same name.

You can use the Search function to find a player by name or Unique ID.

2. How is the "points" rating calculated?

A new player has 1000 points. Every time you make a kill, you gain a certain amount of points depending on a) the victim's points rating, and b) the weapon you used. If you kill someone with a higher points rating than you, then you gain more points than if you kill someone with a lower points rating than you. Therefore, killing newbies will not get you as far as killing the #1 player. And if you kill someone with your knife, you gain more points than if you kill them with a rifle, for example.

When you are killed, you lose a certain amount of points, which again depends on the points rating of your killer and the weapon they used (you don't lose as many points for being killed by the #1 player with a rifle than you do for being killed by a low ranked player with a knife). Unfortunately it doesn't work that way anymore (which is what we're trying to sort out). I've lost 10 points for being killed by a player with up to 1000 more points than me! It feels like you guys just rigged this "contest" so the top players would stay on top and us lower players would sink to the bottom like we were made of lead!

I highly doubt that rem and the "top players" are conspiring against anyone. Why the hell would he even have this competition if he's the one providing the prizes in the first place? I'm sure it's just a tech issue and once everyone understands what's going wrong, that it will be fixed. Don't stress out so much about the points, just have fun.

Why would finger rig a contest so the elite players (most of which he doesn't even like) could win prizes?

This just my opinion from observation of the past contest and this one....
Maybe before making the guide line for contests discuss them with players in the community
or we could opt to not have a contest at all...they always seem to cause more trouble then they are worth

Don't get me wrong
I love free stuff and friendly competition I also think that the contests are great
But they seem to be taring this community in two which is not good at all

Killer Points = Killer Points + (Victim Points / Killer Points)× Weapon Modifier × 5

Victim Points = Victim Points - (Victim Points / Killer Points) × Weapon Modifier × 5

Lets say I have 2000 points, my victim has 1000, 2000+(1000/2000) x 1 x 5 = 2000+2.5

Lets say I have 2000 and my killer has 1000, 2000 - 2.5

I would loose 2.5 if I was killed by him or gain 2.5 if I killed him.

Weapon modifiers are usually 1 for primary weapons, 2 for melee weapons. So I don't understand why you guys think it is not working. Please explain a scenario where you think it didn't work. All you tell me is that you lost x amount of points. You loose a great deal of points when you get killed by a weapon that has a larger point modifier.

wen i die by anyone they gain like 24 points and i lose 24 points, all i brought it is up is the fact that its different from last time because i would only lose 12 and they would gain 24... just makes it harder for ppl who die alot...i dont recognize weapon modifiers at all in the servers lol... and really i dont care about ANY of this cuz im pretty much stuck in top 100 anyway
