This is an attempt to force innocent players onto site and risk losing their items to a phishing scam. (phishing for info..get it?)
Anywho, just note that if someone friend requests you or even if someone you know and trust (who coulda been phished themselves) asks you to go onto a fishy site (steamconuty?......hut2??....ru???) DONT
Anyone who still falls for these... must be like 12 or missing the frontal lobe of their cerebral cortex...or UnicornPoop

A few weeks ago, I had a kid try to trick me into defrauding Trion Worlds and potentially someone else by using an old gift card in place of a real credit card for subscription payment (allegedly I have 1 free month of play because I preordered the game). I reported his userpage to Steam for misconduct, but apparently nothing has been done about it.
For the record, he has changed his country of origin 3 times since I naïvely added him to my Friends list (I have since blocked him): first it was Germany, then Liechtenstein and now Zimbabwe. A telltale sign of a con artist IME.

I have a few other friends that foisted themselves on me (thankfully they haven't solicited me for anything as of late); would now be a good time to purge them? I first saw these people on trade servers during my infamous crate binge; we haven't spoken or played together since.

I'd greatly suggest verifying your email and enabling Steam Guard. Really quite difficult for phishers to do anything once that's set up.
