So, mic spam got a little crazy today on SB2. I've never been turned away from Critsandvich before, but when I asked if they could stop the mic spam I was told to leave "they were there first. [they] had been there for almost two hours".

I've been a pretty loyal donor, but the attitude around here has been less than appetizing lately. Maybe that's just me.

The thing is sandman, I like hearing you talk. I think you're funny and trust me when I say I would have forgotten to unmute you. Why should I have to mute you and 8 other people to enjoy playing on my favorite server? And I wasnt the only person who was not enjoying the mic spam. Just because I was vocal about it doesnt mean you can assume I was the only one.

I (or Mike claims he beat me to it) muted the guy when I got on. Regardless, I do not like the debate "just mute in options," because then you are unaware of when that individual is talking and you might try to say something right ontop of them. Then you've added to annoying micspam and your message did not get through. Also, Sandman occasionally says things related to the game that I like to hear

lol that GUY was hibiscus by the way, but anyway i agree she went too aggressively with the spam, and a simple admin mute then an unmute pretty much solved that. I don't want you to think we were trying to grief here. People were lolling over it and were having fun. Coming in and silencing the server with the seriousness you brought in could have been avoided. Making a thread about it was completely pointless.

Absolutely not pointless to bring this up. This subject is going to be brought up sooner or later. There's a fine line between blatant mic-spamming and the occasional audio clip. The fine line is what the admins control and what they set. However; there are guidelines that all must abide by, such as: micspams must not be longer than a certain length (correct me if I'm wrong, but 15 seconds???). There might be the occasional exception, depending on the circumstance. Secondly The longer micspams must either be at the end of the round or the beginning. Any long, drawn out mic spam(s) in between rounds is highly distracting. It's called a Slaybox for a reason, unless of course, one's trying to slay our patience and our tranquility with their shenanigans.

A quick response to this... This topic has been brought up in the past which is why you must be a donator (or admin i guess) to use hldj and there is no limit. I also agree there is a line to cross, i enjoy hearing watermelons stop whining every time i talk to him. In my opinion though using it to pop an empty slaybox 2 and keep them in there can be enjoyable. When it gets to the point of overuse it's done, like dopple said there were admins in there to mute when it got out of hand.

EDIT: I would also like to say that with what you said patrid about "occaional exceptions" i think this counts as one of those. Nobody thought it was a big deal until it was posted on the forums. It was a controlled environment, not people spamming chaos all game.

My two cents in, I think it's all good as long as it's not "out of hand" as many have said. Sure it got riled up in there but it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

I'm not really sure what's being addressed or not addressed in this forum. Who was mic spamming? What admins were on at the time? And, what exactly is turning you sour in CSn servers speall?

Also, if you can't say something relevant in a complaint tread you should move on to another thread.

I've had a history with micspamming, with it ending with me losing my first trial admin request because of it, and I can say whole heartedly that it's far too easy to get carried away. In the heat of the moment, it can be hard to tell when your taking it too far.

Mic spamming and normal mic use is balanced on a fine line. I don't think anyone has mic-spamming privileges- not donors, admin, or dedicated community members. If you are asked politely by a person you should take it to heart and stop. An admin should step up. This is where having "preferences" can be sticky. Stop letting your friends get away with murder. In my opinion, if you want to talk to your friends on the server get a vent or mumble. Hell I'll let you use mine. The server's all talk should be used for light, friendly banter and game related call-outs. Don't ruin it for everyone because you're an attention seeking loser.

If you are providing commentary- you do it on the same nights, at the same time. If you are keeping it clean, and a legit commentary then that's not random spam. Plus, no one has bitched about it yet. (much)

Tying into the "keeping it clean" part if that sentence, I suggest we don't openly antagonize people, which has been happening recently, jokingly or not.
