Useless things people often do in TF2

by Sirnak » Wed May 25, 2011 1:15 pm

Title says it all. What do you thing people often uselessly do in TF2? As for me:

1) Shouting "Spy!" when you spot a Spy about to backstab a teammate. The guy I'm about to backstab almost never turn around soon enough and, ME, I know I'm spotted and by which class (thx to player name). Which tells me how to react or flee from a danger I might not even have seen.

2) Shooting bullets at Uber Heavies.

3) Medics that try to heal with the syringue gun (no kidding).

4) Fighting back against Patrid when you are Spy.

Spies that stab my appropriately named razorback... I'm not complaining, I get a free kill but I suffer the inconvenience of running back to the supply cabinet. :?

I've also wanted to know... is it possible to facestab the razorback?

Facestabs are recognized by the game as a backstab, so yes. You need the Razorfront to block facestabs.

Wrong. I did facestab a couple of Razorback Snipers. Sometimes, they do block the facestab, but not always. I personally experience a 75% facestab success rate against Razorback Snipers.

Also, if you are so much INSIDE the back of a Sniper while stabbing him (so he REALLY can't make a step backward), the backstab might connect even though there is a Razorback. I personally experience a 25% wtfbackstab success rate against Razorback Snipers.

At my opinion, the Razorback is the most bugging and untrustworthy TF2 item. Since the second position is Spy's knives always according to me, it might explain a thing or two. lol

I'm really getting good use out of it as an Ambassador spy. It's not meant to be "efficient", get a lot of kills, or let you top the scoreboard; it's there for when you need to try something different that the other watches can't handle.

Lol, I use the CnD myself from time to time just to remind myself the virtues of patience when playing spy. But we've all seen the CnD spies that *crawl* and I've rarely seen a more useless team mate.

Yes, razorback blocks all "backstabs." Even your razorback has blocked facestabs I've landed on you, and jump stabs, and regular stabs. The worst is when you're in a melee combat with a sniper and they flail around like a retard and when you swipe they miss you and end up turning away....

I've seen snipers get backstabbed through their Razorbacks before. Maybe like... 3 times over my whole TF2 career. Maybe they've been backstabbed before, but the model got bugged and stayed on. I 'unno, tis weird shit.

MEDICS THAT DON'T HEAL MEDICS THAT ARE ABOUT TO DIE...
*breathes*
Medics that don't overheal other medics... and stick to a person no matter what.

I save and assist dying friendly medics, as well as, overheal them so that can survive that random crit.
I also uber kritzing medics, while switching between his/her target.
I Kritz ubered players.
I also support the team and hold lines and push forward... you know when I die. :)

No one ever does these things for me... :(

BROS BEFORE HOES DOG.

*jumping medic chest-bump"

The reason I don't heal/put you out more often is probably because I tend to class switch when you go Medic; we're both really competent healers, and I feel like having two of us at once is kind of redundant.

Rest assured, when I see a friendly medic, I drop whatever I'm doing to heal them/check their health, barring extraordinary circumstances.

I'll heal enemy spies if they're cool and don't try to stab my patients and I. It's tough to tell in the heat of battle whether a spy is hostile though, and I generally wind up playing it safe.

You sir, are a gentleman and kredit to team!

Now all we need now is, at least 1 person on those playload race maps... not standing on the cart so medics can get thier ubers in prep. LOL
What do you mean syringes don't go there? I am the doctor here... they go where I say they go.

Ubercharge rate is always maximized during prep, unless there's a special case in payload race that I am unaware of.

Huh? If everyone stands on the cart, it makes it easy to overheal them all before the round begins. It's almost impossible to not get an uber ready in standard set-up time if you just keep healing someone; the only way it can really happen is if you suddenly realize you don't know where any of your team is.

On the flip side, I hate when people spread themselves out before a round, or damage themselves when there is less than 20s remaining. The first makes it hard for me to track down and buff everyone, and the second makes it take longer to heal them before-match and in-combat. I once had a Demo apologize when I explained this to him before a round, which was pretty nice since people generally don't seem to care how hard their medic's job is.

Sit in the spawn for 3/4 of pl_Goldrush 2 as a medic, refusing to leave the gate until someone switches spycrab so you can ubercharge them.

That was a fun match.

A target getting healed by another medic, a friendly dispenser, a friendly payload cart, or any other recovery effect slows the rate you get uber.

The more healing on the target at per second, the less uber being built per second.

2 medics healing the same target during setup will less likely have a full uber, or JUST getting to uber as the round starts.
your target standing on a friendly payload cart at the beginning will reduce uber being built as well.
While maximized, you still suffer reduction in uber gain per healing source during setup.
Another thing people don't know is that damaging yourself in setup does NOT increase the medic's charge rate, as it is already maxed out.

Not during setup, Guy; the uber charge rate is always at absolute max (or 0 if you aren't healing) until the time remaining clock hits 00:00. No exceptions. Check it up on the wiki if you still have doubts.

It's fine. They buffed the charge rate a few years ago because some teams were able to get ubers before setup and less-coordinated ones weren't, so instead of being wrong, you just got a surprise update fixing your problems!

Sounds much more enjoyable when you put it that way.
