They have high valued paints in them (white, black, gold, purple), and I believe they are believed to have a higher probability for getting an unusual hat.

im pretty sure that only series one has a higher chance of getting an unusual, and its only like a 1% difference.

idk much about these crates, but considering the chance of getting an unusual from a crate is normally .5-1% anyway, i'd say a 1% increase is a lot to some people

Well, I just crafted the napper's respite with my chieftan and got a sight for sore eyes, so it turns out that my crate opening was actually an epic win.

once i did a class specific craft(that took me atleast 2 months to get the metal for) and got a bald scout...

I crafted that with my panama and got a tossle!
