I just traded away the contents of my backpack away to people on Slaybox 1, what I couldn't trade, I deleted. I'm honestly contemplating uninstalling.

For the life of me, I've tried everything I could but I couldn't get a kill or assist to save my life.

Woah Yuu, it's okay, we all have shit days, or if you're me, you have more shit days than good. It'll be okay. Maybe you need to take a break? I once took a 6mo break from tf2.

Don't worry, we were all bad at TF2 at one point. And don't think "everyone else knows tons more than me so I'll never be better than them". Not true. It's pretty easy to get good enough at TF2 to have fun.

You should play medic a bit more. You learn a lot about how to play the other classes by observing them while healing. It's hard to get frustrated as a medic since you're generally liked and appreciated no matter what (just try not to run out alone and die).

Let people know you're new and they may be willing to stay with you and help you out.

Also, isn't there a coaching thing now? I'd like to try that out at some point myself. Maybe you're a good person to try coaching.

I agree with Benny. Medic is not the easiest class, but it can offer you the ability to observe other players. Try to just chill out, and have fun.

:( nooo, you shouldn't give up on anything even video games
like benny said in your mentor tread, you probably only feel like your doing worse because Lotus and that other server have faster spawn times
and lower skill leveled players in general :3

now i realize why you just stood still whenever id see you on the server saying that you give up.
and you were lagging which could also have been an issue

if you really did trade away all your items i can help you get the unlockable weapons you want back for free if you wanna start again

What you need to do is:

1. get some dualing mini games.
2. challenge patrid.
3. go medic.
4. get an assist, (1-0)
5. sit in spawn until round end.
6. repeat.

Honestly fingerman, I'd like to win duels fairly(Even if some guy turtles and lols in his spawn). But that's not the point of the issue really. I can't stand giving everything I've got to try and kill some S.O.B. to fail miserably time and time again. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem for me, as I'd find a new server and move on but in four days alone, I worked my ass off getting from rank 187 in hlstats to 66 only to fall back to 101. I'm pretty sure you see my frustration seeing all of my hard work put out for nothing. And while I understand that it's going to take time, it's just not fun fucking dying every five seconds and waiting fifteen just to get back in the game. I've been told that it's because I play on insta-spawn servers that I'm too aggressive, I guess that's right because I go all out just trying to get rid of one person that I got deadlocked in my sight. But I hate nothing more than to watch the numbers of their hp tick away on my screen only to get swept away, finding that one more shotgun shell would have done the job or a rocket would have ended things.

And yes, if you look at my backpack, you'll find that I traded everything I could and deleted what I couldn't. I even gave away my golden Heavy Duty Rag and Familiar Fez to two guys that probably don't care. I only kept my Humanitarian's Hachimaki for the sake of the fact that it went towards Japan's aid and my Headtaker because of how hard I grinded in game just to earn enough craftables for the metal alone. You don't need to give me anything, it was my stupid mistake to get pissed off and rage trade/delete.

honestly you just need to change your stratagy, if you fix that then you will do "good" in all servers

today whenever i killed you, you were all alone. you were blu too and you should never really push into enemy territory all alone. unless your zclipse and have the ability to run away super fast if you know things are going down the shitter

You honestly probably weren't even doing that bad, the problem with TF2 has always been the same and it's just more prevalent on a server like CSn... Everyone tries to play deathmatch / solofort and then one team decides that they're actually a team and you're fucked. Your team sucks asshole and no matter what you do there's 5 enemies in your face at every turn. This makes me rage too, so I can relate. I don't mind being bottom of the scoreboard, but I hate getting steam rolled because of a shitty team. Don't give up just yet, that'll only make your madder in the long run. Even Zclipse dies and I have like a 1:7 KDR vs Toaster but I still tell him he sucks and die 20 times to get that one sweet revenge kill on his butthole that makes him QQ... then he kills me 7 more times and I QQ.

P.S. Oh, and I'm a serverist... meaning, you'll get trolled and/or mudstomped less if you play on SlayBox1. You're LESS likely to come across those pocket medic duos that make everything you do worthless as well.

i get pretty fixated on ppl also .....there can be 10 enimies and if i see patrid or failhorse ... it is like its built into my core that they must die .... screw killing the medic with uber and screw capping the point/pushing cart .... they must die

usually means they kill me or there team does ... but its worth it everytime i do

I played on the server with yuu last night. Yuu aren't bad as a player. Yuu just make bad decisions and get yuurself killed when yuu should have retreated. Yuu also go off on yuur own a lot and that's what was getting yuu killed.

Pshhh. Your happiness shouldn't be about being the top rank on the server. Its about having fun man. Some people can play more then you can and have probably played longer, so your already going to be behind! You are probably not going to be in the top of the leaderboard because its insanely hard to get there. Really good players have probably been playing since the release of TF2 and have been playing their class forever!

Now that the motivational portion is done... ( ) Just relax man. The more pissed off you get while playing a game the worst you will do. Aggressive behavior outside the game leads to stupid aggressive decisions in game. You don't need to be the best for a good time on a community server so just try to have some fun. Contrary to popular belief, the internet is not serious business :).

If you really desire being good, do what other people have been suggesting and just watch the best and apply it to your game. FPS is more about a mindset then anything physical. The best players know when to run and when to engage. The highlights you see on youtube are 5 minutes of probably hours of play. You are bound to get a few epic moments here and there, but Its not normal to be Rambo all the time. Just be patient, you will get better and better the more you play. Quitting just makes you worse :).

I didn't say there was anything wrong with pocket medicing, I just said you're less likely to have the frustration of facing on an a "solo-team" on slaybox1.

Also remember your playing a war based hat simulator, not COD.
Your on a learning curve right now, and your finding it steeper because of the previous servers you were on, just keep playing, take your time and it'll come together.

Also, getting steamrolled sucks but it happens. Just wait for the auto scramble.

Also, know that Mike is like your run-of-the-mill tf2 player... talks big but can perform under pressure
For different people, they have different tendencies, and playing against people a good deal will slowly imbue that info into your strategy.

I'll start it off by profiling Mike-
He plays 4 classes consistantly in the SBs.
-Medic
-Demo
-Sniper
-Soldier

Consider this... As a medic, Mike tends to be a pocket medic of good players, and sandman. Although he is decent at spy checking, like most players, in the heat of battle, he tends to turn to the target he's healing... If it's a assault class, backstab the assault class, then use the revolver on Mikey, while allowing your teammates recover. Also, If you're DR... provoke Mike to chase you by acting as if you're just another "obvious spy". He tends to leave his heal target while protecting his own back. If he doesn't choose to chase you... take out your revolver and shoot him from behind and if either him or his target turn around.... retreat.
As any other class, try to flank him.

As a demo/soldier, Mike is a solitary player. He tends to set traps in obvious places as demo. If you're a scout, feel free to run quickly past the traps, as Mike has slow reaction. Otherwise, avoid this and flank him. As a soldier... Mike is best fought if by keeping a decent distance.

As for sniping, Mike is more immersed in his shot than your average snipers. If you're a spy, CnD works everytime, just know how to avoid being seen. If you're a DR, best avoid the straight path towards him. He doesn't tend to check his sides regularly.

Honestly, I'm also sorry for the way I talk on the SB. I'm just in a hateful mood after I pissed the contents of my backpack down the drain, stuff that took me at least four months to accumulate since I started playing. I'm sure once this contest is over and I get my head on straight, I'll back to that lovey-dovey faggy guy again. I understand getting better takes time and changing styles isn't something that doesn't happen overnight. I'm normally not this nasty but that one horrible day sorta makes me feel vindictive whenever I play someone better than me. Like I told to 12th Doctor, I like you all as people but as players better than me, I loathe your entire existence for the time being. Not just for that but because you're in the way of me redeeming my giant fuck up.

I'm sure things will get better. Just going to deal with the fact that I'm a scrub for now and work at it.

When I'm playing against Mike as a pocket medic, which I agree, he is a pocket more than a team based medic (to each their own), I've learned to just kill him first. He doesn't check his ass enough, he spy checks anyone that goes towards his target's back, and Sandman has spidey-senses that tingle his asshole anytime a knife comes near, DR away.

When I play against Patrid, stab, stab, kill, kill, he switches to pyro, tilde to console, exit.

What has helped me the most, other than tons of playing, playing against assholes that I want to murder irl, and playing numerous other FPS before, is to watch the youtube type tutorials to learn what strategies and techniques are available... you can't do them if you're not aware of them. Then I just do stupid shit over and over until I land it... then I go hrm.. I sort of did this, fuck it up a hundred more times until I get a pattern that slowly increases my efficiency.

I used to bounce between the Slayboxes a lot, and I think others do too, if you're having an off day against a certain person, just switch to clear your pallet.

Kind of annoying to end up on a team opposite Ackybur kritzing Zclipse with Mangachu and some other assorted high-quality players on the side. Highlights my general uselessness. SIGH. I'll come back later. After billions of hours of playing (which may be synonymous with practice, who knows) I might eventually be able to... I don't know. BLEUGH.

The biggest thing I've noticed that separates our front line classes from those on servers like Freefrag or Lotus is that we tend pay attention to positioning.

Take the height advantage whenever you can, pin people into corners, and don't be afraid to stand still and guard a good chokepoint on defense.

As a soldier, it takes 3-4 good rockets to kill another soldier. If you can't aim as well (which seems to come from practice and not much else) then you need to focus on getting the jump on somebody or engaging when you have an advantage

Anywho, even though I've been taking your guys' advice, it's still nearly impossible to kill someone directly and if I do score a kill it's because of it was accidental or they just weren't flat out paying attention. I think after this contest is over, I won't be on the Slayboxes anymore. It's just not worth dying all the time and watching my hard work be pissed away just because I'm inept. For those of you telling me that I'm not bad, the only reason I have those points are for three reasons: 1. Heals 2. Teleport 3. Accident. While I like the other players here, I just don't like dying all the time and dealing with guys like Protocol Needs Therapy and Mangachu, so after the contest win or lose, I'll be on the funbox and maybe the sb when I'm feeling masochistic.

Stick around, the practice really pays off ;) Newbie servers give you lots of bad habits, and you're playing on a server where people can identify these mistakes and will make you pay 90% of the time.
Try going back to a server like Lotus or Back2Basics now, I guarantee you'll roll without even realizing what you're doing differently :)

It's not an MMO: your K:D means nothing on the server the day after it happens. What matters is that you learned something, got better, and that you can incorporate it into your play the next time you're on

Yuu, you did a few great sentry placements today, which shows you're learning. One suggestion I have is pick a class and play it. You keep jumping around from spy, engi, demo etc. Just stick with one, get better, and rape in the sb's.

It's not fundamentals I'm having problems with, it's advanced stuff. What settings work best for which class would be another subject to touch on too, as well as figuring out some way to give my fps a boost because it's just like playing on the 360 again.

Here's a guide about cl_interp, which is the only var that I tweak when I play. I don't play any comp so I haven't felt the need to look into it, but there's definitely a thread here somewhere where people discuss advanced/custom cfgs and also one about HUDs/fps configs. you might be able to search for it

Yuu. I spent the better part of badwater on red trying to heal yuu.
Yuu were playing solider and double rocket jumping out of heal range, or
straight on top of a group of blu.

Between that and you getting sniped a few times, probably threw away 8 or 9 lives.
We'll say 5, and blame sandman for not being able to snipe the other snipers.
Either way, a lot of it is timing, and watching what your teammates are doing.

I'm being whole-heatedly serious when I write that... this is incorrect. Some classes just can't win against others on other maps. For instance...If one plays only sniper, an ept CnD spy with decent aim should have no problem stabbing/shooting him to death... If one plays rl/bb soldier, a good pyro (meaning not w+m1) should be able to kill him regularly. If one plays spy... good spy checking/ good communication should null that person's effect.

Gist is, You shouldn't play every class, but you should stick to a couple main classes, but also develop the fundementals on support classes such as the pyro/spy so that when needed, you can counter the effects of the occasional unbalanced team.

I honestly can't wait until this contest is over. I've never felt so bitter towards everyone better than me or vindictive and disappointed in myself all just to win ONE little hat. And it's not even the hat, it's just the fact that I'd have won SOMETHING rather than nothing. You all are nice guys, with a few exceptions I've run into, and I really wouldn't mind being pleasant but I just get so pissed off because hlstats remind me how fucking inferior I am. Then for those of you who say I do good and I'm not that bad, you don't realize that 95% of my points are from teleports and heals. Engineer and Medic. Two classes. That. I. Despise. Playing.

I want to play as:

Soldier
Heavy
Demo

But I just can't compete with the other players. =/

just want to point out .... that you can get all the points you'll ever want just by picking on failhorse and patrid ... and pee'ing on rapid taco ..... then again it might just be that the contest makes most ppl a try hard ...

You're doing badly with the combat classes because all of your fights are 1 vs 2+. There are times/maps when TF2 is much more about holding your line and not dying than it is about killing other people :) It seems like you're always pushing and trying to kill other people while other people are trying not to die. The turtle is going to win that fight most of the time regardless of who aims better

True, even as a heavy you have to hold back and wait for teammates.

Personally, I'm still working on getting better at demo. I still suck at trying to hit someone one on one with a pipe. I was always good at indirect fire though which is one of the demo's strong points.

Soldier is tougher than most people think. You have to really keep track of how many rockets you have and when to reload. And remember that the shot gun does a surprising amount of damage at short range when you run out of rockets, I recommend using over one of the banners.
