I might as well add that with some Windows games from the past, you have to Google a patch or commands just to play it (i.e. Star Wars: TIE Fighter, the first Diablo, Soldier of Fortune). Sometimes, you even have to use a virtual machine just to play it, like with my case for Lego Island. It does also make me wonder if there are some Windows games out there that don't even work on virtual machines and have no community assistance with running on modern hardware.

I haven't tried running DOS games in awhile but cant you just dual boot? Plus a lot of these games have been ported to flash. That aside I think it's still safe to say most games have work arounds or patches which is more than consoles have, and if they don't they can still be played, you might just have to jump through some hoops.
