I'm not sure about the U.K. but In Germany the taboos of violence or sex are flip flopped.

In America you can show the most unimaginable horrific violent scenes but even a single nipple is a no no.
Contrast that with Germany which doesn't allow gibs in games but shows soft core porn on regular TV after 1 AM.
