Router searching-help and such...

I'm looking into buying a new router, I believe my current one is dying. I will occasionally experience a disconnect or slow down with internet regardless of activity from other users and electronics using wireless. My computer is directly connected to the router. The router is located on the top floor (third floor, my room). Other users can't even connect to the wireless even if they are below my room, let alone the bottom floor. It's an old router I' sure. I just need some help on what to look for in a router and maybe some troubleshoots I can do to "boost" my speed, or something.

I've been looking at this router for a while now, however I am not all too sure if it would be a good one to support my desktop and two other laptops.

I use this bad boy. I got it for free, so i don't really know the price. I saw somewhere 45, then another place 70, so I'm not too sure. It works perfectly well for me
