College is the time for imbibing alcohol, experimenting with weed, kissing women (men? it's 2012, we don't judge) on the mouth, and going to class hungover. Studying is for nerds.

But seriously, get ready to have a good time. College rules. Less time in class than in High School, freedom to do what you want when you want, new people, new experiences, new everything. Remember this: every college is a party college, you just have to look for it.

I don't know where you're going to school, but I went to a pretty decent one and college was fucking easy. Basically you can show up and get a C, study and get a B, or try hard and get an A. Freshman year is the epitome of this because your classes will probably be too big for your professor to actually track effort. This doesn't apply for hardcore majors like chem or engineering

My top 3 tips:
-Everyone knows no one, and everyone is waiting and wishing for somebody else to be the friendly one to come introduce themselves. Don't be afraid to be that friendly person. Also, leave your door open if you're living in a dorm
-In a lot of situations, not going to class is going to be very easy. Resist this temptation, even if the notes are online and the lecture is huge
-Choose a major that will let you specialize in something employable. College is a big investment of time and money

Yeah, the biggest challenge initially is learning to manage your own time. You don't need to spend 80+ hours a week studying like the professors say (At least not for the first couple years). Mostly, be open and don't turn down opportunity. Get involved.

Agree w/ Echoplex. Go to every class and do the assigned work and you'll breeze through college. Get involved, like Thret said.

Talk to strangers. Always wear a condom. And never pop a pill you haven't tried without a good friend vouching for it first.

Make sure you have good summer jobs / internships. Your GPA doesn't matter if you have relevant field experience. Or if you're an engineer.

My GPA matters a bit. And by that I mean it matters $35k. As in I need to do well or else I get kicked out of this program that gives me the $$$$$$$$$.

I'm starting to build my first PC tomorrow! I'm so excited even though I wont get the final parts for a few more days.
