This is going to sound old of me, but whatever.

Buy a house. Rates are really amazing and shit is pretty much as cheap as it's going to be. And I'm betting that since you just got a big money promotion, you are planning to stay in the same place (shutter....Utah....shutter ) for a least a couple years.

So yeah, work quick to save up a 10% down payment (20% if they gave you a cash bonus or something upfront) and then find a place. Don't buy a foreclosure unless you really get that shit checked out top to bottom. People do dumb shit to their houses when they know they are getting kicked out.
