It could work...

Talk about random stuff that has nothing to do with TF2 or other games.

It could work...

OK, so ever since MamaWeegee's thread about D&D I've been wanting to play and I have yet to find anybody in my school that plays 3.5 (4.0 is just so... Awefull...). So I've been trolling around the interwebs trying to find a way for us to connect a game online like some people suggested.

What I found was this.

Now, I'm not too good with these sorts of programs to begin with, plus it's 11:08 where I am, I've been up since 5, it's midterm week and I have to be up at 5:30 tomorrow, so I'm too tired to really look over it. It might be completely useless, I don't know. Is someone good at this stuff willing to look into this and see if it could work? We already have the Vent server to talk to each other through, and from what I can tell this thing has an in-built dice system, damage tracker and all that stuff.

Like I said, it might be completely useless, I don't know. I'm tired and I'm bad at this stuff to begin with. But if it could work, I'd love to give it a try if others are willing. :)
I play Scout and Medic a lot.

You can literally torrent every book for 3.5 Edition. I got them all off piratebay. If we can get this to work we can start a canpaign with just basic characters so people can learn how to do things.

Also, check out the site d20srd.com. It's a compilation of the 3 core rulebooks, The Player's Handbook, which is the most important to new players, the Monster Manuel and the Dungeon Master's Guid. It's a really usefull site.

These are the only books you need. Everything else is fluff. I used to make fun of my old roommate for spending so much money on D&D books. Dude had several thousands of dollars worth of them.

Coming from someone who hasn't played D&D, I wouldn't mind giving this a try. Maybe we can make our campaign? (or rip off everything from The Dark Spire XD)

Complete truth. I wouldn't know the other rules if I didn't get all the rulebooks off of torrents.

Except for the Draconomicon. My brother and I got that right when it came out. :P

But like I said, d20srd is a great site. It turns out there's an Android app for it, too! :D

Well, I'm a seasoned 3.5 player and DM, and love answering rules clarification questions if you guys have any. Hell, I could drum up a low-level adventure if you wanted me to, but I've never gotten any of those online DnD games to work. I will tell you though that I've played on an IRC server that supports dice rolling and /npc /npa commands, and that works fine if you don't mind using your imagination.

Edit: Or I could be a player :P a noobie player, also fun. I'll do whatever.

Honestly, I've almost never played with a map and figurines. It's always been in our head. If using a server like that could work just as well as this software that confuses me so than I'm all for it. I'm really experienced in 3.5, mostly playing though, so I can help get people started too. :)
