While joked and suggested on the servers, there doesn't seem to be one. Until now! DaBeezy and I are going to try our hands at making a podcast, not sure what we really expect, but if the podcast isn't going to get a few laughs i'm sure our failure will. But what the general plan seems to be is a community cast with guests/interviews, highlights, players of the week, bring up any news or events and the like. Nothing that hasn't been done before, surely, but nonetheless a fun project.

So what we'll need:
A guest
Questions to be asked
Topics
Suggestions (other than don't do it)
Possibly an editor

It's unknown when it'll be up, how long it'll be, or the exact execution of it, but it WILL happen. So, feel free to discuss, or make fun of it.

This could be a lot of fun. Im sure a lot of people would enjoy this.
Considering how much non-TF2 talk goes on in-game, this would be a great place to make some fun out of it.

Also, an admin would be greatly appreciated.

i will definately listen to this. i see you and dabezzy making a very comical podcast about the critsandvich network, possibly you can do a game commentary

also you can debate who are the best hackers, like chrs and cornelieus.

Alright then, It seems that the first recording will be STARTING at roughly 6-7 in the evening central time. We can modify the time as needed within our schedules. Not sure how long it'll take to get started or how long the actual podcast will be. Granted, all podcasts will not be restricted to having just admins as guests, but for the sake of the first one being interesting this one is. So if you're an admin that would be free, want to do the podcast, has skype, and can answer some rather depraved questions, say so! We'll get you informed and do a few trials and hopefully get the full thing set up.

I'm going to try to use audacity recorder for the first podcast, it's free and i can edit it after it's complete. As for where it'll be hosted, I'll have to either find someone to convert it to video to host on youtube or send it to the site admin if he would like it hosted here. I'm hoping the audio quality isn't too bad, and if people like the podcast we could either have an additional person (if they are willing and have decent software) in the chat who simply records it.

'Ey, Minja here. I'm actually taking classes for audio engineering, and for it I got Pro Tools, which is (appropriately named) used by professional audio engineers. So that being said, I do now think recording it is a viable option for me, I can, as well, do any editing required afterwards. This is all in theory at the moment, however, but I will toy to see what I can do.

I'd really like to be a part of this. It sounds like an awesome idea! Anyway I can be involved is fine with me.

Preferably IN the thing however ;D

So we have:
Guests(Admin only im assuming for the first one)
Topics: Im sure we can write up plenty of questions and things to talk about. The community can post their suggestions as well.
Editor: Im thinking we tie up Minja in a dark room with a sound setup and he records and edits the audio while we talk and enjoy ourselves.

We have a good idea of how the whole show can go down, ranging from things like server news and TF2 news, to some crazy stat that someone pulled off in a game. Also, plenty of off-topic nonsense that will make your sandvich turn inside out.

An ideal day to release the Podcast would be Wednesday, but please suggest another day if you like!

This Wednesday will most likely be a test of sorts.

-We need to test our podcast to see if we got the recording down.
-We also need to check the flow of our podcast for when people are coming and going.
-We need to make sure our format is informative, funny, and cohesive.
-We need to find a fixed length that would help make sure we don't go on longer than we should.

I am thinking we could open up the selection a bit and choose from a bigger pool of members then just admins. And for the first official one we do, we get the Admins and unravel all that meat. So be funny or downright awesome today in the servers, and look out for an invite. Invites will most likely be given on Steam, where we will give you the skype names to add(We could also use the empty Mumble server should it prove more convenient).

I've tried to use Audacity to record Skype, and as far as I know it's not possible at all. There are some (freeish) Skype audio recording tools you can use instead. Skype hogs all audio completely and doesn't allow other apps like Audacity access (annoying, I know).

I'm glad to see that so many people are supportive and willing to help or come on.

And since audacity might not work a quick google search yielded me a possible solution to record on skype. It's possible that if skype proves too difficult to work with we could try to go on mumble (I've yet to play around with that) and have our own chat. This could also allow live viewers from the community, and they could type in their own questions, this would also make the podcast possibly more recording friendly and really drive home the community driven aspect. The only request though is that the only people using voicechat are the ones on the cast.

And for the first actual episode, It'll probably be between one of the red admins. Perhaps we could have the community decide who exactly?

If possible I might have some free time later on this evening, after me and my old ladies traditional "Discount movie Tuesday", and hop on skype to play around with the audio.

ALSO, If the test run does go smooth enough, I could record it and host it for constructive criticism/improvements. While it wont be considered an actual podcast it still might be a good idea to get some listeners on it.

I made a uStream account and I can give the information to whoever needs it.

Most programs that record cost money, and the free ones have limited functions like a 2 minute maximum recording limit. I do not feel comfortable with anyone spending money on something so raw and incomplete.

Mumble is open-source, so there is a better chance this is something that can work for us. Also, Minja may have a solution, but not until next week.

If the mumble server proves to be a problem due to a lack of moderation, perhaps we could shift over to the new Vent server. Im sure it could prove to be just as useful as the mumble server. Information will be posted in this thread and on the Steam page later today about how you can get into the test run that we are having this evening.

Podcast has been recorded! Roughly an hour long, I'm going to have to edit out a lot of the content for hosting purposes. However, it was a complete BLAST and we all seemed to enjoy it. So I can hope that once it's put out online you can enjoy our highlights as much as we enjoyed making it.

Here is our trial run of the podcast. Still trying to get a talking order/flow/style set. Mostly just testing out the waters to see what works. A lot what learned from this test run, and I really would enjoy to make another one! Forgive the quality, I did what I could(very little)/knew(VERY little) what to do in a VERY short amount of time, but here it is:

This is phenomenal considering what Chocolate had to work with. Next week we will have better equipment and better everything. This is only 20 minutes out of the 80 we recorded.

Even the sound levels out, ideally beforehand but maybe it's possible in post too. It's hard to hear the other people if they're too quiet, and it blows out your ears if they're too loud.
Cut out the intro stuff so people can get to some content faster and don't close out (I almost closed out myself but I gave it some time and it started being interesting after a minute)
Everyone should hold the mike button longer so they're not cut off, if possible

I found a lot of the conversation actually interesting and would totally listen again, especially if those issues are cleaned up just a tad! For a podcast based in Vent, the sound quality was surprisingly good.

So overall, nice work guys!

Vent was a last minute change actually.

Yeah, I didn't notice the audio levels for our mics until after it was done, and I accidentally didn't save it as a multiwave file, so it made editing the voices a lot harder, too hard for my level of understanding of the program at least. So for the next attempt we'll defiantly tune ours out to be more even. And possibly have someone else with a better editing program and more talent handling the edits.
And granted the intro was a bit slow, but we kind of tried to show an outline of how they would work. I think the way future versions will go will be a long actual podcast with a highlight reel (like we did here) to put in for the funny/interesting stuff.
And we did notice that there was a lot of cutting out when we spoke, and Vent did have some pretty massive lag spikes. So it could be multiple reasons behind that.

But i'm glad for the criticism! It helps

EDIT: I also am going to toss this on here, seeing as it's the CritSandvitch Podcast, it needs a jingle or somethin, right? Let me know what you think.

This was immensely enjoyable to do, and hopefully we managed to get the ball rolling so to speak.
The only things we really need to keep on top of are topics of conversation, voice audio levels, guest speakers, Witty Banter, and figuring out a silent way to Que in who wants to talk next.

Here is an outline of how we think the podcast format should be. Naturally, a podcast that is less formatted and more natural can be better, but only if done right. I think we could do good if we just a little bit of structure and I wanted to open this up to the community to comment on this format I've written up. You won't be able to make changes, but please make any suggestion that comes into your head. We will consider any opinion, even if it suggests getting rid of somethings or adding something completely different.

We recorded our first podcast! We were able to record so much great audio, that we decided to split it into two parts. The first part which is posted below is what we call the
