But I agree. Tesela was way ahead of his own time and also wasn't interested in only money like Edison. If it weren't for him, who knows how long it would have taken to get alternating current into use.

Ironically, the new solar/wind driven power grid will have to rely on direct current. Did you know that for an investment of a measly ~480 billion dollars that our entire electricity grid could be converted to solar power? No more coal, oil or nuclear power, just solar. I'm too lazy to dig up the Scientific American article, but it's a good one.
