Lazy ass.
My user is gambitschema, since I'd made my profile while being a weird 14 or 15 year old kid hopped up on Problem Sleuth and named myself SchemaPumpkin.
ohgod youth
Later it changed to SchismPumpkin, then plain ol' Schism.
Then some stuff happened, I became obsessed with Japanese crap, and now I'm Saber. This may have been influenced by the fact that I named my Vint. Eyelander "Excalibur." So yeah. Also, mad spelling skills there duck.

I like having short names.
At the time I made my name my bestfriend had the name pirate.
So I countered her name with ninja, and it just stuck.

Harri was my nickname from high school. I was assigned as a tutor to an exchange student from Japan. My name is Holli and he couldn't say the L's. So he said Harri. People say both Harry and Harri. I go by either. But, it was originally Harri.

My name started out as "me" in half life 2 deathmatch just because liked to confuse people with that name, but then when my brother wouldn't stop making fun of me for having the "stupidest name ever" i decided to add an h, and it's been meh ever since

BLUHitler (yes, I used that in some places), I like BLU and thought the Medic was kinda cool at the time.

Vintage Meat Boy, I was pretty psyched about Super Meat Boy coming out and stuff, and I was getting into TF2 at the time.

Nikki Wolf, started at a joke reference to Nikki Sixx (yes, that is a guy), and my fursona is a wolf. (well, dragonwolf now, but still)

Before CSn was what it was (TFGN), I was Bearjew. My team username is Bearjew6 so if you add me as a friend you can type that in and Prof Schwartz will come up.

Besides the point....Patrid helped me with that name. I wanted something with a Jewish twist so he helped me with the name. He started the (at first) 2 Crown, then i tagged along, eventually becoming Crown Sqaured. On HL stats it says that two ppl are in the Crown Squared clan (lolwut?)

I don't really have any other names. That's my story. Tell it to your children and hopefully it will be passed on to their children's children's children's children's children's children's children's children's children's children's children.

Well, when I was younger, I used to love mythology, especially Norse mythology. But I eventually stopped caring about it.

In 2007, I finally got an XBOX 360. I had to pick a gamer tag, didn't really care what it was, selected the give a random sample button. Out of the 5 names given, one was MournfulOdin. Literally spelled that way.
I have no idea how in the hell the randomizer picked that; but still, it peaked my interest, and I've never looked back.

(That and I have one eye.)

I'm a warmed-over weeaboo and former furry. Hibiscus Kazeneko was a fursona I created around 2004. She was inspired by some cats I saw living in the hibiscus bushes at Turtle Bay Resort when I was in Hawaii.

Hibby the Hoovy is based on a shortened form of Hibiscus (I first noticed people using it around 2008) combined with the fact that I look like Rule 63 of the Heavy in real life. I went by Smerchette until recently; a Smerchette is a female fan of Stephen Merchant (my avatar :P).

i was doing some soul searching one day, and i as i pondered the larger questions in life, i fell asleep underneath a tree. when i awoke, i found myself oddly attracted to a strange rock, resting silent as the wind. i sauntered over and under the rock, i found a dvd of the office, with a note that had but one simple word "magical". i went home and watched the dvd, and as i lazilly gazed at the television i simultaneously downloaded steam. I needed to enter a username, and then i heard the voice of an angel. i looked at the television, and on the screen was the saggy face, and 250 pounds of pure seduction; stanley hudson. My name is a tribute to the most beautiful human who has ever walked this earth.

A name needs to be memorable and punchy so that people can recognize you immediately enough in your own community, or at least that's what I believe.

Re: So were did you think of your names?

by AuronV3 » Thu Nov 03, 2011 7:06 pm

To be honest, my name is very unoriginal when you get down to it.

Auron was one of the "Bad-ass" characters of Final Fantasy X, and as such, I adored him as a child. As for V3, long story short I never liked paying for my xbox live gold account, so I would often make multiple accounts to abuse the free month of live, naming each of the proceeding names with a V2, V3, ect.

After V3, they caught on to the system and took it away, so I actually stuck with it.

The alternative, Damon Gant, is just that of a Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney character that I loved. His cocky attitude with that hint of kindness made for the perfect persona for me.

That's the story. BAM

My steam id is lordyamamoto which I used in SC2 and WC3 and SC:BW and Runescape and ROSE and Xanga and any number of stupid things. I thought of it back in middle school I guess and was too lazy to think of a new login until miyamamo recently. Both of which are just based on my name (Michael Yamamoto). I use miyamamo in Minecraft and on both Shattered Lands and our server people decided to call me "Miya" and refer to me with female pronouns.

A while back on TF2 I toyed around with Dwarf Fortress style names for each class, going from ☺ Legendary Surgeon as medic to ☺ Dabbling Conversationalist as heavy and ☺ Adequate Marksman as sniper, etc. In the end I liked ☺ Legendary Surgeon for medic but none of the other class names really stuck. I use ☺ Dabbling Conversationalist periodically because I liked the name in general. Since admin-ing for CSn I've stuck with ☺ Legendary Surgeon to avoid confusion.
The mills of the gods grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine.

Long ago, in the ancient days of 56k connections and joysticks, I was on a quest for fame and to have my name known throughout the land. I began building my dynasty with a band of warriors who shared similar aspirations. We fought hard for glory and shared many an afternoon basking in sunlight. As we neared our ultimate goal of having our names immortalized in Valhalla my most trustworthy comrade turned and addressed me. At the time I was known by Fennic Fox; a name that had served to strike fear into the hearts of my opponents.

My comrade turns to me and she says "I think Fence is a much better name for you."

The rest is, as they say, history.

Oh the days of Mechwarrior 4. How I miss thee.

I wanted a new name for a new start in TF2 (I had taken a hiatus). I recently started maining spy and since the spy disguises as other people I thought "doppelganger" was the perfect name. It is also a name I've used off and on. I was playing on CSn and someone (I don't remember, might have been Tuna) said that I should name myself doppelsoldner or zweihander. Since doppelsoldner was similar I changed it to that just to satisfy him. Doppelsoldner is a German soldier who was paid double wages for fighting on the front lines. When I started playing UGC for Harri I shortened it to just Doppel.

In 1997, Wing Commander: Prophecy was released. It was a space-fighter simulator. To add to this, it was one of those older games that had in-person cut scenes and cinematics.

Anyway, I based my name off the character Brad Greenquist played: Spyder, the aloof, stoic, and quiet pilot that was usually by Hawk's side and never spoke much about his past.

I also used to wear Spiderman shirts, and in my Freshman year of High School a classmate called me "Spider".

On runescape, my brother's name was chaoticmoose, then I had the name of dragonboy
Then, we both discovered maplestory, and he was MegaMegaTron on a private server. Later, I liked mooses a lot and needed a different name.
I came up with Megamoose and just loved it so much that it is usually my username for things. If needed though, I use megamooseman... only because I like it.

by Rologton » Tue Nov 08, 2011 7:46 pm

Back in the day (the day being 9th and 10th grade) I started playing World of Warcraft, and wanted to come up with a completely unique name that nobody else had and would be memorable. So I went onto the website that has all the usernames and started typing in ideas I had. Eventually I typed "Rologton" because I thought it sounded cool, and low and behold, there was no one by that name. I then rolled Undead Rogue and had a lot of fun, only getting to level 60 before I lost internet at my house for a year for a stupid reason I don't want to get into. Eventually I got internet back, but wasn't so into WoW that I wanted to get back into it, but I still liked the name. It's still unique, I'm the only Rologton in the world, so I kept with it. I've used it on a couple of forums, then my brother got into Steam and TF2 and got me interested, so I used the name again.

Also, I kind of like all the ways people try and pronounce it. I know it's a made up name and I'm really the only one that knows, but still, it's fun for me. :)
I play Scout and Medic a lot.
