Oven I made at work

We used to paint the equipment we make until I started testing powder coating at our shop. We had a regular size oven until recently when I made a new oven. This is the powder coating oven I made from 2 ovens. I got both ovens for free, someone threw away one oven and the other I removed from a friend's apartment complex after they got a new one. I took them totally apart and then cut into the sides and made one large inner shell by welding 16 gauge plates in between. I reused the insulation in both ovens and put extra insulation in the tops and in the door. For the door I used one large sheet of 12 gauge steel and welded 1 inch square tube together to make a frame and 20 gauge galvanized riveted to the outside to make it lighter. I used one set of controls and moved the broiler element to the right side bottom. In a regular oven only the bottom element is used to cook unless you have a preheat or broil function in which case it will use both elements. I have used this oven 4 times now since I made it to powder coat some very large things, it works great. There is now 50" of clearance so I can use it to paint 4' long items. At the bottom of the oven is a cart I made which allows me to roll it around and it is high enough so you don't have to bend down when putting things in it.

The inside oven parts are coated in something like porcelain which I tried to grind off, but the metal is really thin and hard to weld, so I did the best I could. It works either way.

Pretty neat, I wish I had skills to fabricate things. Your garage looks like what I imagine the Engineer's would look like too.
