Talk about random stuff that has nothing to do with TF2 or other games.

Steam

the entire steam network appears to be down... I am not putting this in technical issues because it's not CSn related or even something that can be fixed on a user end, just sharing so others can chillax.

That is not remotely true.

I did lose connection for a minute or so, but I was able to play Beat Hazard for a while after.

Volty's right. Parts of the Steam network (specifically, from what I've seen, the TF2 item servers for one) are experiencing errors and operating at drastically reduced capacity, but many other core functions (allowing gameplay, allowing online connection, friends tracking, friends communication, purchases...etc.) are continuing to operate intact and unaffected.

You're a lot better about this than the blokes on the Steam Forums though; any time anything happens with the item servers, we get 2-8 "OH MY GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING TO STEAM SOMEONE HELP ME" threads. Every time. That title isn't an exaggeration, either.
I refuse to use
    Soda Popper
    Liberty Launcher
    Axtinguisher; Phlogistinator
    Stickybomb Launcher
    Tomislav
    Pomson 6000
    Quick Fix
    Bushwacka; Machina
    Enforcer; Spycicle

on CSn servers.
I don't expect you to, but I appreciate those of you that do.

steams fucked up for me real bad... for some reason it is reinstalling like 20 of my games, and BIG games too, like my cod's, l4d's, assassin creeds, gta's, fallout, brink, and more. It isn't updates either, its installing them from the beginning. Fortunately all my saved games and files are still there but it is taking a VERY long time to dl all of them. It also downloads AS im in game.. so if i want to play i have to stop all of the downloads before i do it or else it lags with like 500 ping.

Check to make sure your GCFs/NCFs are still intact and in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps'. Also, Steam will pause (or severely limit) downloads for you if you launch a game through the client

Steam's been crashing on me in TF2 almost regularly the last few days. If it crashes and I try and chat, the chat box opens, but I can't type and all the keys still cause my character to move or whatever, except my mouse. And then I can't close it, DC or anything, so I have to Ctrl Alt Del my way out :I
