So, I'm supposed to be going on a mini-vacation for the next few days, and wouldn't you know it, the day we're supposed to leave, I woke up with a headache, dry throat, and a mild fever. FML

I hate that. Whenever I've scheduled something fun or out-of-the-ordinary, I always have some kind of malady that ruins it.
On our road trip in 2005 for example, I had a severe ear infection (caused by swimming in a poorly maintained pool) that impaired my ability to hear and even chew food. I got some antibiotic drops from an urgent care doctor in Bozeman, Montana, but they only helped for so long before the infection flared up in my other ear. It took nearly a month to fully clear up.
