You liked Scott Pilgrim?
I'll go ahead and put up a poll.

The no new stuff is a given, but I don't think we should restrict the graphic stuff. If the movie is indeed graphic like say, Pulp Fiction, we could just throw up a disclaimer or something.
VoltySquirrel wrote:Anywho, great idea Harri. We could even have a discussion about the movie after a certain period of time after we announce the movie of the week. Destructoid does a similar thing with their Movie Night.

I think I will put a disclaimer just for a safe measure. Yes, we are too crude of a group to censor things.

I'd rather stick with a classic like Mononoke or Spirited Away.

Ditto, though I've seen Spirited Away enough to bash my own face in.
I'm not much of a Subtitle viewer anyway. Dubs ftw.
Harri wrote:Maringue wrote:So how exactly would we see this movie streaming from your computer?
I will stream it live through http://www.ustream.tv/
or something else. All you have to do is go to a website and watch. The quality is not brilliant, but there is a chat attached to it. So we can cut up and joke around.
VoltySquirrel wrote:There is also Ponyo or Howl's Moving Castle. On a side note: the Studio Ghibli films are the only anime I can really get into. I guess that might be attributed to their films being similar to Pixar's, and I'm the biggest Pixar whore on the planet.

VoltySquirrel wrote:My problem with Anime in general is the amount filler, the convoluted story lines in some series, the pretentiousness of those same series (Neon Genesis Evangelion), and the rabid fanbase that comes with it that won't shut the fuck up.

3 series with absolutely 0 episodes of filler (IE, every episode is plot-relevant and contains vital development)
Gurren Lagann
Romeo x Juliet
Code Geass (it has 1 filler episode in the 1st season, but every other episode is really like 3 episode's worth of events packed into one, so it makes up for it in spade)
^animated by Gainax, Gonzo, and Clamp, respectively.
As for convoluted story lines, there's not much you can do for that but stick to simple mass-media stuff like Bleach or DBZ if you aren't a fan of intricate plot.
Also, fanbases are only there when you look for them; the 360 has a rabid fanbase I'm sure, but I just make it a point not to cross paths with them.

Do not lie to this poor boy. Gurren Lagann is filler and Code Geass is absolute shit thanks to the fanbase.
Edit: Gurren Lagann is not complete filler but it does have filler and the last few episodes were stupid.

I have the awesome connection to do so, but someone would have to show me how to do it.

Don't be throwing the best hacker movie featuring Matthew Broderick and the hot Ally Sheedy if you don't really mean it. I have a pretty decent 720 mkv rip of it and respectable upload speeds.

I think a drinking game to every time Oh Hai is said will be great. Or when he laughs. That movie is so bad. It is hilarious.
