You will notice no ads on the website and motd. Apparently we violated some term of servicer 'r whatnot. Anyway. This isn't a call for donations. Just a general announcement.

Over the next few weeks we're going to be doing some updates to the website. Benny can use some help. But wait for a Benny post on that. Our community has grown and changed a lot. We need to be able to provide the latest content, and update our look. (Expect a blog/news type website to go along with the forums, for instance.) Maybe even a shopping cart... oooh....

We're going to be tightening up the servers and make sure they run at peak performance. We do need some help from the community though. Lately we haven't been pushing active players from the game to the forums. We need to change that. You know what to do.

Spreading out on the servers and keeping them populated is always welcome. Take 10 minutes to fill that empty one. It's easy.

Finally if you have any ideas for new donor benefits. Let's hear it! Provide some sort of material with your idea.

This is why banner ad money is bullshit. The general rule are don't tell people to click on the ads and we've never done that, ever. When you go to cash out after months of their ads being on your site, they claim you broke one of their rules that they just made up.

I believe the adsense account was taken down because Google considered the MOTD ads a break of the TOS, not because of any of the forum content. The TOS says that embedding ads in a program is not allowed. Granted the MOTD is a proper web browser that renders HTML but I suppose they didn't like that idea. Also, doesn't that make a web browser like Firefox or Chrome serving ads illegal as well? It's a very blurry line, but I'll let Google win this round.

If it wasn't forced I'm sure they wouldn't have an issue but the benefit to the MOTD is that it displays no matter what.

This is just a short term suggestion, but until we fix this situation with Google, maybe we should implement Project Wonderful. Granted, they pull in less ad revenue then AdSense, but until we fix this issue with Google, any ad revenue is better than none.
