The only mics I'd suggest would be headsets. I wouldn't go with what a lot of people seem to have, which is just a mic. I hate having to hear people talk and hear what's going on in their game. I use Turtle Beach headsets, so take a pick from those I suppose. See what other people have to say first however.

Yes, headsets are more convenient. Mics work, but are better suited for Skype conversations and the like, unless you have that good of a mic. (ones that cancel out background noise)

Or you can pull a patrid and buy the cheapest mic...place it across the room and yell. You won't pick up any background noise!

Do you have a sound card? Are you using headphones? Do you not like headphones?

Whats your budget then?

A few I can think of off the top of my head are these

Anything from these guys http://steelseries.com/products/audio

HD555s with a cheap logitech desk mic (this is what I use) http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD555- ... 668&sr=1-1 and http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-981-0002 ... 688&sr=1-1

PC151s (I have these and love them) http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-PC-151 ... 655&sr=1-1

Fatal1ty Gaming Headset http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002DS4HTM

PC360 Headset http://www.amazon.com/PC-360-Headset-Pr ... 746&sr=1-5

I also can suggest to stay away from anything Razer or Logitech when it comes to headphones. They simply don't sound as good as the Sennhisers, C Labs, or Steels, and generally cost more. You're paying for lights with those guys.

This is what I rock: http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/ps3-gaming-headsets/ear-force-dpx21.aspx
A little on the pricy side (150 USD), but totally worth it. Sound quality is amazing. Pretty much any Turtle Beach would do really.

As Volty said (and I already mentioned), Turtle Beach is totally worth paying for. I use these babies at the moment. B-e-aaaa-uuuuuuutiful.

(On a sidenote, I wouldn't suggest big-cup headphones if you have giant holes in your ears like I do. Real uncomfy sometimes. Although this probably doesn't apply to you or anyone.)

I can only imagine that you're playing on a laptop.

Nope.avi. Got me a brand spankin' new Asus that I use for all my gaming needs, since I don't have the room for a Desktop. If space weren't a concern, I'd have my friend build me one.

Do you guys know any Sennheiser models you like in particular? My current one is too quiet for people to hear me explaining why it might be a good thing my mic is too quiet.
