Found this article on reddit today. So like they're making a movie thats coming out in February and a tv series based of the 4th book which is supposed to come out in 2018. Thats all pretty neato, I just kinda hope the movie dosnt blow. Also you guys should really try reading the series so you can sorta care about my ranting about it.

While there are a lot of references and reoccurring characters from Kings other works like The Eyes of the Dragon, Salem's Lot, and The Stand. I wouldn't say that you absolutely need to read these books. Ive only read The Stand and there were only a few references I got so you could totally read the books without any knowledge of Kings other novels. I would say that its your call on this, I personally dont think its worth it but thats just my opinion. Also the guys little universe covers like almost all his novels a la the graph http://laughingsquid.com/the-stephen-ki ... haracters/
The Dark Tower has more references than Kings other books but it totally stands on its own. Also I highly recommend The Stand, great book, really long though. And if you do plan on reading the series youre probably best off using a library or http://www.thriftbooks.com/ cause 7 books actually cost a lot of money.

I've only made it through the first 4 books so far, and having only read a few of King's other books, I didn't even realize there were references to other characters.
Or, maybe they come later in the series.
It's been very enjoyable nonetheless.
The first book is kind of slow, bringing in a lot of the lore and back story, but it really starts picking up after that.
It's been a couple years since since I last picked it up, but with a TV / Movie coming out, I'm going to have to finish it before it gets spoiled.

Also, If you like audio books, I'll just leave this here:

Yeah I totally agree about the first book part, the next book The Drawing of Three is what really hooked me into the series. Also the beginning of The Wizard And The Glass has a huge reference to The Stand and the reoccurring character from a bunch of King books is Marten Broadcloack (Randall Flagg in The Stand and he was also in The Eyes Of The Dragon I think). And if people want a non-torrenting site link to the audio books heres one https://app.box.com/s/ga7bpmisv9ryaygv87sdrqbyaa8hygil. But currently I recently started Song of Susannaha so Im not way too ahead of you Insipid.

I've got The Stand already so I'll probably start there.

The movie was trash. If I had a gun, with two bullets, and I was in a room with Hitler, Bin Laden and Matthew McConaughey, I would shoot Matthew McConaughey twice.
