Talk about random stuff that has nothing to do with TF2 or other games.

I should not be allow near sharp objects

by Failhorse » Sun Sep 11, 2011 11:03 am

I was working on my house yesterday putting in some windows. Was trying to cut off a vinyl fin to better fit a window. My utility knife was getting stuck so I changed the blade. Then proceeded to immediately cut through half my pinkie, and a quarter way through my ring finger. Through the nail, right down the center.

It gets better. Later when I was changing the bandage i pulled from left to right instead of right to left and almost ripped off the piece that was still hanging on.

Talked to my buddy who's a doctor. Nothing i can really do. Finger said to super glue it. But my buddy said i'd have to throughly clean out the cuts and rip off my nail. Otherwise i'd get a really nasty infection.

Best pic i could get.

Hmm... the doctor's orders... or finger's...

I'm not sure, but, just on a high level of curiousity, I'd have tried fingerman's idea.

Get a second opinion.
A good doctor would at least offer you stitches.

the cut isn't gaping open so stiches arent required. superglue would work, but i'd have to clean out the wound again, pull my whole nail off and go about it that way.

no thanks.
i'm fine

I got a huge gash on my leg a little while back. I put on my sunglasses and told myself to deal with it. I got a huge infection and had to go to the hospital. Don't be like me, clean it thoroughly and keep it covered.

I'd still get a professional's input at least on wound care.
I don't want you tearing your fingernail clear off just to avoid infection.

Ouch. I thought you only got that by showering in locker rooms without flip-flops (my mom got it this way) or by cutting your nails with a pair of clippers that had been on someone else's infected nail (my brother did it this way).

Failhorse, take this as an imperative to see a doctor about your wound.

FYI to followup. 1 finger already healed and pushed out the cut nail about 1/8 inch. (This nail was cut in the middle and was not disconnected.
The other nail, where i cut the triangle chuck off from the rest. Has not actually died or fallen off. It's still frikken growing at the same pace as the rest of the nail. Now this shit is tripping me out. Figure a quarter inch triangle on the inner side is not connected to the rest of the nail. yet still grows.

I may have super powers. I'll let you guys know.

Failhorse, when you get really infected and lose the whole finger and/or hand to gangrene please have it replaced with mechanical appendages. It's the way of the future and is a great way to further your special powers that you're claiming. I'd also recommend putting in a tracking device so that when you get yourself into situations (like most super heroes) where you're kidnapped and being held hostage we can find you better. Failhorse, I will support you in whatever you do, let me be your right hand man. I will be the Alfred to your Batman. Together...we will rule this world.
